The rise of the God of Death

*Chapter 10: Adventurers Guild*

As Daimon stepped into the grand northern city, he was met with towering buildings and a sharp, chilling wind that carried the scent of steel and smoke. This city was clearly built for the elite—where only the rich, powerful, or dangerous dared live.

Walking down the stone-paved streets with Lucy resting quietly in his arms, Daimon spotted an old man sitting by a corner stall and asked, *"Hey grandpa... where can I get money around here?"*

The old man chuckled. *"Plenty of places. Manual labor, odd jobs… but the most coin comes from the most dangerous place—*the Adventurers Guild*."*

That caught Daimon's interest immediately. He asked for directions, thanked the man, and began walking at a normal pace—he knew he couldn't reveal his true speed here.

After some time navigating through the crowded streets, he arrived at a massive building alive with energy. The Adventurers Guild. Inside, hardened warriors and magic users crowded the hall—taking quests, trading potions, and boasting loudly about their conquests. Daimon walked up to the receptionist, a young woman with sharp eyes and a bored expression.

*"How do I become an adventurer?"* he asked plainly.

She raised a brow. *"Bring me the head of a high-ranked serpent from the eastern swamp. That's the current test."*

Without a word, Daimon placed a large, severed serpent head on the counter. Her eyes widened in shock, but she quickly composed herself and began to explain.

*"Alright, you're in. Let me break down the ranks for you."*

- *Rate 3 Soldier:* Basic level. You need to complete many quests to move up. Can join squads.

- *Rate 2 Soldier:* Better pay. Can still join squads.

- *Rate 1 Soldier:* Gains a room in the guild's hotel and access to free services, as long as they remain active. Can lead small squads.

- *Warrior:* Eligible to enter the royal army or form an independent group.

- *Elite Warrior:* Lives in luxury under the Hero of the North. Answers to no one.

- *Commander:* Extremely rare. Only two known in the city. One is the Hero of the North. The other… missing.

After registering, Daimon used the last of the money Jarul left behind to buy a small cabin at the edge of the city. He returned to the cabin, placed Lucy in bed, and gently woke her up.

*"Lucy,"* he said softly, *"we're in a new place now. You'll be going to a safe children's care center while I work. Is that alright?"*

She nodded sleepily. *"Okay, Uncle Daimon…"*

That night, she fell asleep in his arms, hugging him tightly. Daimon sat silently, staring at the ceiling.

*"The Hero of the North, huh… Wasn't he the one who restricted resources to the outer villages?"* His tone turned cold. *"He let security falter. That's why Lucy's parents died…"*

He clenched his fist, but then exhaled. *"I wanted to kill you... but now, I have a better plan."*

With Lucy peacefully breathing beside him, Daimon closed his eyes, unaware that the next day would change everything.
