Chapter 22 - Claude

The room is spacious, and you can see a lot of books at a glance. There are rows of books on the bookshelves against the wall.

On the table at the back of the room was a pile of books as high as a mountain, and behind the mountain of books sat a bald old man with a white beard.

Claude slowly raised his head, and upon seeing Melissa, he comforted her, "I've heard about what happened in the Dur Valley. Be patient. With wizards involved, there's nothing anyone can do. Stay at the academy and focus on your studies. You'll be safe here."

"Thank you, teacher." Melissa wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes.

"Who is this?" Claude looked at Hellagur.

Herag introduced himself, "My name is Herag Merlin. I was once Baron Buck's bodyguard, but now I'm on a journey to follow the footsteps of wizards. I've come here to ask Grand Maester Claude some questions."

Claude was surprised. He stood up and asked seriously, "Do you have the qualifications to be a wizard?"

"I am now a wizard's apprentice." said Hellagur.

"Is there a teacher?" Claude asked.

"No."

Claude nodded: "I understand, you probably want to join a wizarding organization."

"Yes, but I know nothing about this, so I wanted to ask the learned Grand Secretary for advice." Hellagur looked at Claude's expression and clearly knew something.

Claude laughed and said, "Educated? Compared to wizards, I'm just an uncivilized savage in a cave. You're late. The ship carrying the wizard apprentice left three months ago. We don't know when the next one will be. It could be three months or even three years."

"Three years?" Herag remembered that Malcolm had mentioned before that there were few ships passing through Coulson Continent.

Seeing Hellagur looking a little disappointed, Claude said, "The sea is full of unexpected situations, so the ship's schedule is always unpredictable. You don't have to rush. It's better to make full preparations during this time. I think you haven't learned Sivir yet, right?"

"Sivir?" Hellagur had never heard of this language.

"This is an ancient common language. Since you want to become a wizard, you must learn Sivir." Claude said as he walked to the bookshelf and took down a thick book from it.

Herag didn't recognize the language on the book cover, which looked similar to English letters.

"This book is called 'The Common Language of Sivir'. You can learn it from me in the future." Claude handed the book to Hellagur.

Herag accepted it and thanked him, "Thank you, Grand Maester!"

Claude looked at Hellagur with envy and said earnestly, "It's great to be young. I once also had great aspirations to become a wizard, but unfortunately I didn't have the talent. If I could have one of my students become a wizard in this lifetime, it would be a dream come true."

"Herag, why don't you call me teacher!" Melissa was very excited, and her eyes hinted at something crazy.

Herag also reacted and said with a smile: "Herag meets the teacher!"

"Hahaha! Good boy." Claude laughed heartily, stroking his beard.

Melissa smiled and said, "You have to call me senior from now on."

"Then let's start with the first lesson today, an introduction to Sivir." Claude dragged out a blackboard from the next room and started teaching directly.

Hellagur listened very carefully. Sivir is very similar to English. It has thirty-four basic letters that are combined into different words, and the grammar is not complicated.

He has the support of Deep Blue and learns quickly.

"The Sivir language database has been established."

Deep Blue recorded the relevant information about the Sivir language. Now, even if Hellagur does not continue to study, Deep Blue can help him translate the Sivir language.

"What a talent!" Two hours later, Claude became more and more satisfied with this student.

It was the first time he had seen a student learn a language so quickly, and he could only describe the student as a genius.

Claude exclaimed, "Melissa is already a very smart child, but Hellagur is the most gifted student I have ever seen."

Herag said modestly, "Teacher, you taught me well. Teacher, I want to go to the library to look up some information."

"You can use my library card first, and then return it to me when yours is done." Claude took out his library card from the desk drawer.

He no longer needs this thing. He doesn't need a library card to go to the library, just scan his face.

The library card is made of wood and is very well made.

Herag suspected that only Claude's library card was like this. Ordinary students couldn't use such good wood. The wood alone would cost some money.

At night, Herag and his group had dinner together.

Emil said, "We went to check it out during the day. There's a mercenary guild here. We're going to take on some missions. Some of the missions pay very well."

Melissa said worriedly, "High rewards mean high risks. Don't worry about making money. Safety is the most important thing."

Emil patted his chest and said, "Don't worry, I'm a regular knight, and Jimmy and the others have been working together for many years. I can easily handle most missions."

"If you need my help, just call me." Herag took the initiative.

"Herag, you should concentrate on preparing for your wizard training. Your future is longer than ours, and you can't waste time on these mercenary missions." Emil rejected Herag's kindness. He didn't want to delay Herag because of making money.

"I need to stretch my muscles occasionally. I don't know when the ship will arrive, and the opportunities to fight alongside you will become fewer and fewer in the future." Herag poured a glass of wine and drank it first as a toast.

A group of people drank until very late before leaving. Herag did not rest, but continued to meditate at the starry sky outside the window.

He is meditating on the second star.

The meditation on the second star is a little slower than before. Without the assistance of meteorite grass, the meditation progress is too slow.

A night passed, and while Emil and the others were still asleep, Hellagur had already arrived at the library of Northentan College.

The library is a circular six-story building, which is considered a very magnificent building in this world.

"You are not a student of our college, do you have a library card?" The guard at the door stopped Hellagur. Hellagur's temperament was completely different from that of ordinary students, and it could be seen at a glance.

The guard stared at Hellagur warily. He always felt that the man in front of him was very dangerous.

"I'm a student of Grand Maester Claude, and this is my library card." Herag showed Claude's library card.

"This..." The guard checked the library card and it was indeed true, but he had never heard of Claude accepting such a student.

"Sorry, please wait a moment, I need to check." The guard said politely.

"Okay, I understand. Sorry for the trouble." Herag was not in a hurry to go in, so he waited at the door for a while.

The guard was relieved to see his good attitude, smiled apologetically and went in to find the librarian.

Ten minutes later, the guard came out again and respectfully handed the library card to me with both hands: "Mr. Hellager, you can go in."

"Thank you!" Hellagur said with a smile.
