Chapter 12 - The Groom

The mental power increased by 3, but Hellagur did not have any intuitive feeling and was not clear about the effect of mental power for the time being.

"How is it? Are you okay?" Emil asked when he saw Herag was in a daze.

"It's okay, I was just wondering why I fainted." Herag explained.

"I've heard many stories like this before, but this is the first time I've actually encountered one. There are still so many unknown things in this world," Emile said with emotion.

After leaving the lake in the north, Herag and the others continued to patrol other areas, but found nothing unusual there.

"After the wedding, I will report to the Baron about the strangeness here." Emil took note of this matter.

"There are a lot of people here in spring and summer, but I've never heard anyone talk about what's happening here. And the lake here only appears in winter, which means the crying at night only exists in winter, when the lake appears." Herag briefly summarized.

Whenever he thought of the pale face he saw on the lake, he felt a chill on his back. He didn't know what that was, but it couldn't be an illusion.

As the sun sets in the west, the golden sunlight shining on the snow-capped mountains creates a unique scene.

As night fell, the wind grew stronger and stronger, howling even more violently than last night.

"Woo… woo…"

The familiar cry sounded again, and it was more obvious than last night.

Herag lay in the house, ignoring the crying coming from afar.

Who would have thought that the cold wind outside became stronger and was hitting his window.

"Wuwuwu…"

The crying became louder. Herag pricked up his ears and listened, and it felt as if the crying was coming from outside his window.

"Deep blue!"

He glanced at the small dark blue map. There was nothing outside the house, no animals or people.

"Wuwuwu…Ah!"

A particularly piercing female scream was heard, and Herag suddenly felt his whole head go dark and had a splitting headache. The world before his eyes turned black and white, and he was in a state where he could pass out at any time.

"Unknown radiation energy attack detected. It is recommended to temporarily block hearing."

"Block your hearing!" Hellagur immediately gave the order.

Huh~

The whole world seemed to have quieted down, and Hellagur's head no longer hurt.

Herag touched the window and found that it was not his illusion. There was not even a breeze outside the window.

"I wonder how Emil is doing." He suddenly remembered that Emil was still next door. He could use Deep Blue to block his hearing, but Emil couldn't.

He opened the door and found that the door to Emil's room was already open.

"Where are the people?" Emile's room was empty, and the bed was still warm, indicating that he had just left.

The bedroom was on the second floor. When he ran to the first floor, he found that the door was open.

"What is Emile doing out so late?" Herag was full of doubts.

After thinking about it, he decided to go out and take a look. He looked everywhere in the farm, but couldn't find Emil.

When Herag passed by Massimo's room, he heard a particularly loud snoring inside and thought to himself, "This old man has such a good sleep quality. No wonder he has been fine for all these years. He sleeps so soundly that no one can wake him up."

"Could it be that Emile has walked out of the farm..."

When he walked to the gate, his guess was confirmed. The iron gate of the farm was locked from the inside with an iron chain, but now it was broken by a sword, and the gate was wide open.

Herag looked at the empty outside at the door, and a bad feeling arose in his heart.

It is impossible for Emile to run out alone without telling him anything. There is a high possibility that he will encounter an accident.

He went back into the house, got his sword, put on his longbow, and then went out to look for Emile.

The first search direction is the north, where the strange lake is located.

In the darkness of the night, Hellagur moved lightly and moved forward at an extremely fast speed.

Soon he saw Emile, who was wearing casual clothes, holding his sword in his hand, and walking stiffly towards the lake.

"Emile!" Herag quickly rushed over and called him twice.

Emil didn't react at all, not even looking at Hellagur.

Herag walked in front of him and tried to stop Emil, but suddenly he found that Emil's eyes were empty and dark, which reminded him of the face he saw in the lake during the day.

Emile walked around him and continued on his own, without responding to any of Hellagur's actions or words.

Herag went around to the back again, looked at the back of Emil's neck, and considered whether to hit him.

He slashed with his palm, but Emil reacted extremely quickly, as if he had eyes on the back of his head. He swung his sword back and forced Herag back.

After forcing Hellagur back, Emil continued to move forward and gradually came to the lake. He kept walking, as if he wanted to walk directly into the lake.

The lake is bottomless and freezing cold. If you walk into it, you will definitely die.

Herag was so anxious that he shouted, "Melissa is getting married, and the groom is not you!"

Emile stopped, his mouth slightly open as if he wanted to say something, and his empty eyes gradually regained their spirit.

He turned around and saw Hellagur, a little confused: "Why am I here?"

Herag was speechless and said, "You are like a possessed person, walking towards the lake. No one can stop you."

"Is it that bizarre?" Emil looked puzzled. "I remember I lost consciousness after hearing a scream, and woke up here again."

"It's really the scream that's the problem." Herag understood. Fortunately, he blocked his hearing in time, otherwise he would have ended up like Emil, both of them would have had to go into the lake to feed the fish.

"What on earth is in this lake that even the knights are at its mercy?" Herag said, looking at the calm lake.

Emile was also frightened. It was the first time he had encountered such a situation.

Crash!

Suddenly there was movement in the lake.

"Be careful!" Emil gripped his sword tightly.

Herag also stared at the lake. There was nothing displayed on the small map, but with the naked eye, he could see two figures slowly walking out of the lake.

"Looking at the style of this armor, he belongs to the castle guards!" Emil saw the clue from the armor worn by the figure.

Heragh thought of something: "The castle guards? So the guards who disappeared before actually entered this lake..."

The two figures walked slowly in front of Herag and the other man.

Only then did they see the two figures clearly. They were two skeletons wearing armor, holding rusty swords in their hands.

This is not the end yet. There is movement in the lake, and three more figures slowly walked out from the bottom of the lake.

"Try it?" Emil was not afraid at all, but rather excited.

"I'll be on the left and you on the right." Hellagur said with a smile.

It was the first time for them to fight against such a dead thing, and they all felt excited and eager to try it out.
