Chapter 32 - Between Whispers and Laughter

One day, Lara was in her office, trying to focus on her work when she received a message on her phone from Mike:

Mike: "Are you busy right now?"

Lara: "I'm trying to work, why?"

Mike: "Come to my office. Now."

She raised an eyebrow, puzzled, but her curiosity got the better of her, and she headed to his office. When she entered, she found him leaning on his desk, a sly smile on his face.

"Why do I feel like I've walked into a trap?" Lara said, crossing her arms.

Mike stepped closer, closing the space between them, and said in a calm but challenging tone, "Because you did."

She hesitated for a moment, but then steadied herself and said, "What are you planning, Mike?"

He smiled mischievously, then slowly extended his hand as if he were about to do something surprising... But before he could get any closer, the door suddenly swung open!

Emma and Victor walked in, pausing for a moment before exchanging glances. Then Emma, with a wide grin, said, "Oh my god, are we witnessing a romantic moment here?!"

Victor laughed and shook his head, "Oh, this moment is priceless. Finally, it's your turn to be in an awkward situation!"

Lara covered her face with her hands, while Mike backed off, mumbling, "Why do I feel like this is revenge?"

Emma approached Mike, tapping him on the shoulder and saying mischievously, "Because you did that to us so many times, now it's payback!"

Victor stood next to Lara, saying, "I think you both deserve some alone time, but don't worry, we'll be watching from afar!"

Mike glanced at Lara, who was trying to hold back a laugh, and sighed, "I swear you both are going to pay for this later!"

But Emma just raised her hand, saying, "We're ready, darling!"

The room filled with laughter, and while everyone was joking, Mike couldn't help but look at Lara with a gaze full of promises... this game between them wasn't over yet.

On the other side,

The evening had quietly settled in, and the dim lights surrounding the garden created a romantic atmosphere as the gentle sea breeze filled the air. Jacob sat on the sofa near the beach, a cup of tea in his hand, while Camila approached him lightly, sitting beside him and resting her head on his shoulder.

"Do you feel like we've finally gotten a moment of peace?" Camila whispered softly, her eyes gleaming in the candlelight.

Jacob smiled as he looked at her and said, "Yes, and every moment with you makes life seem more beautiful."

Camila smiled, but something in her eyes reflected the depth of her feelings. She felt as if she had finally found a place where she could experience complete peace, and the reason was the man beside her.

As they conversed in the quiet moments, Camila began to feel the weight of her eyelids, and sleep was fast approaching. A few moments later, she fell asleep in Jacob's arms, her head on his shoulder, her features serene, as if she had drifted into another world.

Jacob looked at her, his smile gentle, his eyes filled with love. Carefully, he lifted her into his arms and whispered softly, "Are you ready to sleep?" But he didn't wait for an answer; instead, he carried her quietly toward the room.

He laid her gently on the bed, ensuring her comfort. He didn't want to leave her, so he stayed beside her until he was sure she was asleep, then gently reached over to turn off the light. After that, he lay down beside her quietly, holding her softly, enjoying the warmth of her body in his embrace.

"You're everything to me, Camila..." Jacob whispered, closing his eyes, drifting into a peaceful sleep beside her.

And as his breaths synchronized with hers, he felt like life had become more serene when he was with her. That moment, a small one filled with peace and love, was the moment he wished to live forever.
