Kael found Evelyn in the hallway. His expression was unreadable, but his tone was firm after remembering what elder brannor said to him.
"You are not allowed to leave the mansion."
Her brows knit together. "Why? I'm not a prisoner here."
"I have my reasons," he said, voice clipped, offering no room for argument.
But you are leaving the house so why can't I, you can't even tell me what to do"
He turned on his heel and left the mansion leaving no spacefor argument.
Outside, by the gates, he found an omega who had lived in the mansion for years.
"Keep an eye on them," Kael ordered, his gaze cold. "No one gets near Evelyn or Lily."
The omega nodded without question.
Back inside the estate, Lily tugged Evelyn's hand, leading her to the garden. They spent the morning among the flowers, Lily weaving little crowns from blossoms while Evelyn tried to enjoy the calm, unaware of the silent watch placed over them.

In his office, Kael sat behind a stack of paperwork, scowling. Lucien strolled in without knocking.
"You look thrilled to be here," Lucien said dryly.
"I hate my human form," Kael muttered. "And I hate that I have to work in it." He leaned back in his chair, running a hand over his face. "Brannor appeared in my room last night. Said Evelyn will be put on trial."
Lucien's easy smile faded. "That's not something they'll overlook
Kael's jaw tightened. "I won't let it happen."
Hours later, after lucien left the office felt suffocating. His wolf had been pacing in his head the entire day, restless, impatient.
We miss our mate.
"I don't have time for this," Kael muttered aloud.
Then make time, the wolf snapped. Go to her.
Kael cursed under his breath, shoving his chair back. He didn't plan it, but the next thing he knew, he was already on his way home—pulled not by duty, but by the magnetic pull of her presence.
Kael was halfway to the house when his phone buzzed. The name on the screen made his brows draw together—Selene, a she-wolf from the Bloodfang pack.
This will be quick, he told himself as he turned toward her penthouse the meeting spot she'd suggested.
She was already there, leaning against a sleek couch as he walked into the penthouse, her red dress cut to show off every dangerous curve. When she smiled, it was all confidence and invitation.
"You've been hard to reach," she purred, stepping closer. "You know Alpha,I don't understand why you waste your time on a human when you could have someone like me. I'm worth being your wife."
Kael didn't reply, but when she pressed a hand to his chest, he didn't immediately push her away. She leaned in, her breath warm against his jaw, her scent thick in the air.
Did you call me here to talk about my wife" he asked.
Of course not Alpha, I just want to prove myself to you"
He slid lower in the sofa chair and his legs parted more,
"Since you wanna prove yourself, why don't you get on your knees and put your mouth to good use"
She smiled and walked slowly to him, got on her knees between his leg and started unbuttoning his trousers, then she took out the huge beast in front of her and put it in her mouth then he let out a low moan.
His wolf stirred—sharp, possessive.
Stop kael, but he didn't listen
Her lips brushed the edge of his .
STOP. The voice in his head was no longer a suggestion; it was a command, laced with fury. She's not ours. She will never be ours.
Kael's hand came up—not to pull her closer, but to push her back, his eyes narrowing, his eyes turning green. "This was a mistake."
Selene's smirk faltered. "Kael—"
But he was already walking away, the pull toward home growing stronger.
