Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 Catori Aster

Me and Chayton reached the clearing and met up with our little cousin. He looked at us and got up on his knees very quickly. He sighed to see it was just us. He stood up and smiled. He had a notebook and piece of paper in his hand. I wondered what it was.

"Hey Nox, what are you doing on the ground?" Chayton asked.

"Oh, I just fell down. That's all." He mumbled.

"Must be fun. So, where are you thinking of running away?" Chayton inquired.

"Umm, I want to keep that a secret until everyone gets here. I found out a way to stay safe while getting there, so I want everyone here to listen to it." He beamed.

I licked my fingers of the frosting from the donut me and Chayton shared. Nox seemed determined of this. I'm just happy to get away from here. I just want my family to be happy, the family that cares. And I don't want to be away from my little cousin, he might get himself into trouble.

Me and Chayton climbed the tree to the second to last lowest branch. He sat on one side of the trunk and I sat on the other. I pulled out a sharp knife from my bag and started to carve into it. I carved a shiny disc for a record player and carved my name on the bottom. I had a lot of doodles on this tree. I had sharks and cats drawn on there too.

Chayton's side looked like a bear got mad and lost it's brains on the tree branch. The fun part about it is that most of that is true, except for the bear part. The bear is Chayton. Instead of hurting people he hurts the tree. I told him to stop but now his tree looks really cool and people don't come out here anymore because the surrounding forest has "bear marks" all over them. It's funny to see people talk about it at school and them being scared when you know what's really going on.

Nox sat below me, reading an old piece of paper. I really wonder what's on it to be so interesting to him. He's never taken an interest in reading.

I hang over him, using my legs to hold myself up and keep myself from falling. The writing was in thick cursive. Really thick and some of the words weren't even in English. Someone was apparently learning and not British, which only made it more interesting. The words were in symbols, so it wasn't any European language. It has to be an Asian language. It had circles in the language, so then I knew it had to be Korean. Korean is the only language that I know that uses circles in their symbols. Which was very interesting.

I can't wait until we find out where we're going. It's going to be a journey because if we really don't wanna get caught, taking a car will be dangerous. I think the smartest idea would be to move to Canada or maybe just across the country. They won't find us across the country or in another. At least I don't think so. I really don't know what we'll do when we go, when we reach our destination.

I just really hope that we can escape. This will mean everything. No more school abuse, no more money problems, no more control. Just life on the road. It will be heaven.

I wondered what we could do for money. Mango always wanted to own her own coffee shop, Chayton always wanted to own a hunting shop, I've always wanted to own a pet store, Nox always wanted to own a restaurant, Valentine always wanted his own hair salon, and then there was Nari. She wanted to own herself a brand. Her own brand. She said she would name it after her mother, because she loved her mother. She would call it "Hyun" Oh, how I dreamt about the day she would make it big. She was an ace in college. I just wish she didn't stay at school. Maybe this wouldn't be a thought. But, with her gone. I can't stand being here anymore. I could only imagine Nox, passing by her room everyday for the rest of his life. What would have happened to the room? They would probably sell everything in it for money. If Nox were to know that he would start ransacking it for money himself. He never let's his parents get away from greed, so he steals the greed for himself. It sounds like a funny metaphor, and it really feels like it until it's real. I just really hope that this can go well.

I could only imagine what Hyun would say in this situation. She would be so upset, her son, her little boy. I look at Nox as I think about his late mother. He almost got to meet her again tonight, as well as Nari. This would have been the only time where I didn't want him to see his mom again.

Nox, being himself and flipping through a book's pages. I shook my head, he should be looking for a plan to get out of here. Once all of us are pronounced missing, the town will swarm with police and even worse, the FBI. Now, the FBI is something we can't escape. We would be turned in immediately. No plan will let us escape from that. I just wish there was some magical way we could just disappear when we wanted, like invisibility or teleportation. Something that would save us from the very people we hope to escape.

I just really hope we can pull it off.
