Third Person POV
Today, Aldera Junior High was full of energy. Everyone was excited to meet their respective friends after a long time.
"HEY, REN! How are you doing?""Why are you so excited in the morning? Chill out.""Chilling out is for the weak.""The fuck you talking about?""Listen here, budd-"
WOOSHWOOSH
Suddenly, all the talking stopped as two 'objects' blurred past them, followed by a strong gust of wind.
"HAHAHAHAHA! I won, black eyes!" Rumi yelled at Akaza, enjoying the look on his face. Before Akaza could answer, she ran away to her class.
"She's lucky we're not in the same class." Akaza said with a sigh.
After dusting off his clothes, he slowly started walking toward his class.
After the weird couple left, everyone finally broke out of their shock.
"What was that?""Do they both have speed-based quirks?""Bro, I think I'm in love.""You say that every day," his friend replied with a deadpan face."Dude! Trust me, this is different.""Yeah sure, and I'm All Might. Now move before we get late for our class."
Slowly, all the kids moved to their respective classes, leaving the empty school ground behind.
******************
In class 7-A, everyone was busy talking to each other, trying to make friends and get to know different people. This all came to a halt as the door opened and a tall guy with long black hair and black eyes walked in.
The guy, of course, was Akaza, who found an empty seat at the back of the class by the window.
'Hehe, I got to try the classic protagonist chair,' Akaza thought with a small smile and settled down.
"That guy's eyes look so cool.""I wonder what his quirk is?""How is he this tall already? Dude is even taller than my elder brother."
While the boys whispered in awe, the girls had different reactions.
"Wow, he looks like one of those models.""I know, right?""Should I try talk to him?""Go for it, what are you scared of?"
Akaza, being Akaza, chose to mind his own business.
'I can't blame them; they're around the age people start forming crushes.'
The door opened again, and a group of boys walked in, following a blonde guy with porcupine-like hair.
'If he's here, that means I'm in Izuku's class.'
Bakugo began to scan the class, looking for someone. While he was doing that, the door opened again, and Izuku walked in nervously.
When Bakugo saw Izuku, his eyes gleamed with excitement.
"Of course you're in the same class as me, nerd."
Izuku flinched, hearing Bakugo's remark.
"Kacchan, I—"
"Alright, settle down, kids. The class will be starting now."
Thanks to the teacher, Izuku survived and quickly sat down at an empty seat.
"Good morning, everybody, welcome to your first year of junior high. My name is Takahashi Takashi. Let's start with a quick introduction."
With that, everyone stood up one by one and began introducing themselves. They shared their names, their quirks, and their dreams.
"Hello! My name is Fuji Akane. My quirk is called Iron Claw, and my dream is to become a hero."
Just like that, everyone introduced themselves, which was followed by a claps. However there are always exceptions.
When Bakugo was done with his introduction, he received the loudest cheers from others, while Izuku received laughter.
'Sigh.' Seeing the scene unfold in front of him, Akaza sighed.'That's how life is. You've got to fight for yourself. If you let people push you around, you won't look like a forgiving person, but a weak one. Till this date, I could not understand. If Izuku wants to be a hero, why did he never work out when he damn well knew how important it was? All he ever did before meeting All Might was plan and never execute.'
Thinking this, he decided to ignore Izuku and let the canon follow as it was. Not because he was scared to change it, but because he didn't want to come between Izuku's and Bakugo's love story.
"Akaza, your turn."
Hearing Takashi call, he stood up and did the task told.
"My name is Akaza. Quirk, Technique Development, and Shockwave. Dream, to become the strongest hero."
His response caused the class to erupt. Everyone wasn't sure what to be more shocked at: Akaza claiming to become the strongest, or the fact that he had two quirks.
"Calm down, everyone."
As the class settled back, Takashi explained,
"While not common, there are cases where a child inherits a quirk that is a combination of the parents' quirks, which in even rarer cases allows them to use two different abilities."
Hearing this, the class stared at Akaza like he was some sort of unicorn.
"Now that we are done with the introductions, let's start with the class."
****************
A few hours later, the class ended. Akaza got up and made his way to the cafeteria.
There, he bought two pork buns along with two milk packs. With food in hand, he headed to class 7-C to pick up Rumi.
Meanwhile, in class 7-C:
"Rumi, would you like to have lunch with us?" called out Mio, who was followed by a group of excited girls.
Mio, a purple-haired girl and the certified social butterfly of class 7-C, invited Rumi.
"Na, I can't. I have to meet my friend, 'cause he's the one buying lunch today."
A smile formed on her face as she remembered her big-brain move to trick Akaza into buying lunch.
However, when Mio heard the word 'him', she locked in.
"Wait, did you say he?"
"Yeah? He's a guy. What else should I call him?" Rumi asked, confused.
"You have a boyfriend?!" Mio shrieked.
The sudden comment caught Rumi completely off guard.'What?! Akaza? Boyfriend? No, no, no. That can't be right. We're just friends, right? I mean, he is decent-looking, plus I do enjoy hanging out with him since he's the only real friend I have and the only one other than Mom and Dad who treats me normally, even with my, well, "unique" personality. But do I love him?'
While her brain was running in overdrive, her cheeks started blushing.
Looking at Rumi blushing, her classmates gasped.
"No way, I was right! Tell me—"
"What! No. We just happen to know each other since we were four, that's all."
"So you're childhood friends with him, too."
Looking at the smile on Mio's face, Rumi knew she had to run away NOW. Luckily, the gods listened to her plea.
SWOOSH (door opening sfx)
"Rumi, let's go. I got the lunch; however, this is the last time you're getting a free meal."
Seeing Akaza at the door, she grabbed his hand and rushed out of the class.
"Hehehe. How passionate," Mio said, giggling.
While on the roof, Rumi finally released Akaza's hand and tried to calm herself down.
Akaza looked at Rumi's state and thought about what he had heard Mio say when he was outside the classroom.
'FUCK! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW? I'VE GOT ZERO EXPERIENCE IN THIS FIELD.'
On Rumi's side, things were no better.
'OMG! HE HEARD EVERYTHING. I'M SURE I HEARD HIM OUTSIDE MY CLASSROOM! WHAT DO I DO?!'
After sitting on the rooftop for a while, Akaza finally spoke.
"Rumi."
"Y-yeah."
"Let's not talk about what happened."
Hearing this, Rumi's expression froze, expecting the worst.
"Is it because you don't like me?" she asked in a scared tone, looking down at her feet.
Akaza softly lifted her face and looked her in the eyes.
"You know what I meant. You know that you're the only person I enjoy spending time with other than the adults. What I meant was, you and I are too young to make a decision like this. So let's not be hasty and take our time figuring out our feelings."
"Does that sound okay?"
After understanding what Akaza meant, Rumi finally felt at ease. She could see Akaza was just as messed up as she was when it came to dealing with feelings.
After calming down her classic grin bloomed on her face.
Then, out of nowhere, Rumi jumped and kicked Akaza straight in the face.
"You had your guard down, dumbass! Hahahaha!" she yelled while running away after grabbing the pork bun and milk.
After a while, he sat back up, took the meal, and started eating it in peace.
"It was a good idea to let her land a hit. Hehe," he said, enjoying the pork bun and milk while processing what just happened.
"Life really is full of surprises."

How did it feel? The romance part. I did not want to rush it. Even though I know this is a superhero world I wanted to portray two people who are really bad at conveying their feelings, trying to convey their feelings to each other. That is the reason for the slow approach.
And a question. Should I time skip the junior high part, and head straight to UA exam?
Yes
No
I will wait for a while before deciding.
Anyway bye, I really need some rest.
I heard somewhere powerstones have the power to heal authors, so help this dying man out.
Don't forget to leave a comment below and review the fanfic.
Ahem, Peace out.
