Bobbie rushed toward Sebastian, his voice quick and nervous as he said, "Mr. Clavel, Ms. Louissa is here. She's waiting for you in your office."
Sebastian's steps faltered. His sharp gaze flicked toward Bobbie, and in that instant the assistant understood the weight of his mistake. He swallowed hard, but it was too late.
"Miss Louissa," Bobbie whispered apologetically, already regretting letting her in without permission.
Sebastian's eyes narrowed, the warmth in them fading like the last embers of a fire. His voice dropped, low and cold. "Tell her I'm not here."
At that very moment, the office door was only a few steps away.
Bobbie froze. Louissa, who had been waiting inside, felt her heart leap into her throat. She had stood when she heard his footsteps, excitement brimming in her chest. But the words she caught instead… they were knives.
Her smile faltered instantly.
Tell her I'm not here.
The glow in her heart dimmed, replaced by a cold dread that spread through her chest.
