Chapter 60 - Chapter 60

"I am not seeing the issue." He pointed out while he floated just above the roof where his longtime alley was perched on top of. Both of their capes were billowing in the wind. He was looking down at a vehicle as it moved through his city. "He just looks like a normal human. Maybe with a bit too much musculature."

"I have told you time and time again, do not let your senses deceive you. Ricardo Bell is dangerous and after figuring out where I knew his last name from. I know why. You need to keep your eye out for heavily scarred Hispanic criminals." Batman informed him as he stood up stiffly, favoring one of his legs.

"What happened to your leg?" Superman asked as he kept the line of prisoner transports out of the corner of his eye. There were three buses and the armored vehicle that held the more dangerous criminals.

"He broke it. Fortunately it was a clean break, which might have been intentional, but he was difficult to even hit. I had to drop a boulder on his head to knock him out while using foam to keep him in place." Batman explained. "But it was more the fact that my actual punches were not doing anything to me."

"Is there anything else I should worry about?" Superman asked as he glanced in the direction of Gotham. Just in time to see another part of the former Blackgate prison falling apart. His old friend had really dropped the ball this time.

"Yeah, they are putting him in the special meta section. Which includes Luthor, though I should warn you in case Luthor ends up making a new mercenary friend." Batman answered and then moved away to another side of the roof where his plane was already lowering.

"There is a league meeting in a few days. Are you going to be joining us?" Superman asked as he tilted in another direction where he could hear a commotion. There was a gun fight in the middle of the street. Civilians were not in danger yet but that could quickly change at a moment's notice. "I believe one of the topics that Oliver wanted to bring up was the League of Assassins and the League of Shadows. Whatever they are."

"Hmm… No, I will send Oracle to join the discussion in my place. I am going to have my hands full with finding escaped criminals and mapping the Gotham Underground. It unfortunately is still swarming with criminals. While the police and federal agents have been pushed out of it and are stuck trying to dig out the entrances they already know about that collapsed." Batman answered. "Besides, my former and current sidekicks are teaming up especially with my latest knowing all about the League of Assassins."

Superman hummed and watched him climb into his ship and then fly away without another word. After a moment he grunted and flew away at a high speed as well. He had a city to protect, he also had an article to write.

"They moved him to Stryker's Island. I apologize for my failure. I was not in the Gotham Underground during the time of the attack. I was busy gathering information on the person that purchased Rico and his alley Waylon." The woman was bowing her head and kneeling before a huge man.

After a moment he grunted. "It is alright. I do not blame you. I sent you alone and you cannot be in two places at once." The man spoke with a heavy Spanish accent. "What of the purchaser?"

"Eva, she is the daughter of the former Russian Mafia boss who Rico killed. She purchased him and Waylon because she has a sexual fetish for monsters. With her father out of the way she took control and got her itch scratched. But now her cousin is running the Mafia while she has taken over her father's legitimate businesses." The woman explained. "Her father was someone that Rico's father had angered, so he bought Rico and intended to have him fight to death. But when Rico started breaking the limbs of guards he became too costly to keep around."

Then he rushed it and failed. Was there anything else?" The man asked as he moved over to the side of the tanker ship they were on and looked in the direction of the infamous Gotham City.

"It appears he took and completed a job for a clandestine outfit. Batman and the police have the files and are struggling to connect him to the crime. At the moment he is in prison for a crime he did not commit. I checked up on his allies, a group of mercenaries and Poison Ivy. It appears they are on the hunt for a lawyer." She explained as she stayed kneeling.

The man took a deep breath then spoke after a minute. "This city still smells like shit. Make arrangements to get a meeting between myself and Rico. He will understand if you use my cover name." The man said. "Take the ship to Metropolis."

There was some shuffling in the background as the crew got to work to get the ship underway. It would be difficult to change the direction of the ship. But that was their boss's order and they would follow it.

"I suppose the Gotham Underground experiment was doomed to fail eventually. Tell me, how much of my product remains unused down there?" The man asked as he kept looking at the city.

"None of it. The locals went crazy using it on beasts. They still think they happened upon an old stash." The woman answered.

"Then I suppose we need to make arrangements for word to spread. Reach out to our people in other cities. Gotham is changing with the Underground. But eventually that man will figure out how to snake out from under the problem he put himself under." The man walked away towards the rear of the ship.
