I tripped and hit my head. That is how I ended up remembering my past life. As well as learning the truth of my current life. I had been reincarnated into the DC Universe. But it was not like the comics, movies, or television shows. At least as far as I could tell from the news and well… personal experience.
I was reincarnated into the most dangerous city of the DC Universe or possibly the DC Multiverse, I had to remember that was a possibility. Gotham City, the home of psychotic criminals and a ruthless vigilante.
Then there is my current life. I am the most normal profession in the city, or at least this city. I am but a mere a third rate crook. I am not some big name criminal. Nor am I a goon of a big name criminal. I am just a temporary hire, I just usually do lookout jobs or similar small jobs. As such I have been able to easily avoid the police. Unfortunately the same could not be said of the city's various vigilantes.
On more than a few occasions I have had bones broken by Batman and his family of vigilantes. The first time I encountered them I was thrown out of the third story of a building and onto a bus in the street below. I only broke a few ribs and my leg that first time. The injuries took about four months to heal.
The second time was when I was acting as a lookout for Penguin. I had a batarang embedded in my thigh and had a broken nose and shattered jaw. It took five months to heal from all of those injuries. But my jaw still aches on occasion.
The third time I could barely even call it a job. I had arrived at the site and had not even got paid yet before I was ambushed. It was actually a rival villain that went on rampage. I was shot three times and had all of the bones in my right hand shattered. That took three months to heal from.
There were several other times I was injured but those first three were the major ones. Afterwards I started picking up on how to avoid getting injured. But nothing could stop me from tripping on a cracked sidewalk and banging my head on the concrete.
Now I was waking up in the hospital. Which might not be that unusual. Thankfully I could afford the bill. But as I woke up and after I remembered everything and processed it something unusual happened.
[Welcome to the DC System!]
[The first choice has arrived! Do you want to be a Vigilante, Hero, Villain, Criminal, or something else?]
[Reward for answering: Starter Kit, one raffle ticket, Starter mission, Main mission.]
Well that was a tough call. On one hand being a Vigilante or Hero likely meant he would end up facing troubles. Villains and Criminals would mean he would have to worry about the law and vigilantes and heroes. What else could he do? Maybe something fun? In his last life he ran a gym. Maybe he should do the same in this life. But that was not really a choice. So maybe he should pick something that would give him a specific benefit.
Ricky, that was his name in this life and amusingly enough his last life as well, would have to do something specific. The specific thing he had in mind could actually be a lot of fun. But it would not prevent him from encountering danger. But fortunately enough he was not one of those fanboys that wanted to be some big hero or dominate the world.
Ricky looked around the empty hospital room. Making sure no one else was there before he spoke. "Harem Protagonist." Ricky answered the system.
[Choice picked: Harem Protagonist]
[Reward: Harem Protagonist Starter Kit and raffle ticket. Some time is needed for the missions.]
"Contents of the starter kit?" Ricky tried. After a moment the system popped up another message.
[Harem Protagonist Starter Kit: 10 Harem Store Points, 5 Vigilante Store Points, 5 Criminal Store Points. Endurance Enhancement. 5 contraception pills. 2 Raffle tickets.]
"Okay then where can I use these raffle tickets and the store points?" Ricky asked into the air quietly. Wanting to avoid looking like a crazy person.

That was a lot to go through. Ricky hummed to himself as he made calculations. He did not know exactly how tickets and points were replenished but he figured it was through missions.
First he was going to have to take care of this body of his. It is overweight and has a beer belly. But as the Doctor walked in he figured he should wait until he had some privacy before doing any of that stuff. So he would have to wait until he gets home.
"You are fine to leave Ricardo Bell. I just need you to sign a few documents and I just need to confirm for the last time that you were not doing anything illegal prior to being injured?" The doctor confirmed as he handed Ricky a clipboard with a form on it.
Ricky looked over the form and made his signature before nodding, "I just tripped on a cracked piece of the sidewalk. Are you saying it is the most unusual injury you have heard of or something?" Ricky asked jokingly.
The doctor chuckled, "it is a normal injury but this is Gotham. Go on and be careful as you go home."
Ricky walked out of the room a few moments later with a bandage on his head. As he walked through the emergency room he saw several people being rolled in with severe injuries. Most of them had clearly broken limbs with some even having bones sticking out. One of the stronger villains might be out on a rampage, especially since these looked like normal people.
"What happened?" Ricky asked as he was about to walk out the doors.
"The weirdos are in full force tonight. There has been a sighting of several different villains in different parts of the city." An ambulance worker told him before racing off.
