-CHAPTER 10-
-FUSHIGURO MEGUMI POV-
How did I go from being in my living room to being in the middle of a giant forest? I thought as I dropped down on the grass.
The reason for my current predicament, Gojo Satoru just stood beside me relaxedly and said. "You know I won't even use my Innate Technique, just to keep things fair." Gojo smiled down at me mockingly. "Just my fists would be enough for little Fushiguro."
I glared at the white haired sorcerer, a little ticked off. "Why should I fight you if the end is already written in stone? What would I get?"
Gojo puts a hand on his chin in a thinking position. "Hmm… you're not wrong." He smiles as if he had gotten an idea. "Alright if you can prevent yourself from getting knocked out for one minute against me with Infinity then I'll teach you everything I know about the peak of Jujutsu."
And I smiled, already knowing an idea about how I can survive for one minute. "I can do one minute." I smiled confidently as I stood up while dusting off my pants. Not like I have anything to lose right?
Gojo shakes his head, his amusement flowing. "Nope that's not all! If, when you lose, you will have to join Jujutsu Tech early alright?"
I narrowed my eyes. "Why though? I thought that 15 was the minimum age."
Gojo waves his hands. "14 or 15 is not much of a difference when you're on par with at least a semi-first grade sorcerer just from your CE reserves alone. And honestly after the mess you made yesterday, you've attracted the attention of a lot of people so by attending Jujutsu High you'll at least become capable enough to protect yourself because despite having the reserves you still are just an amateur. "
My eyes widened. So I was able to grow that much in one night!? No wonder everyone used to tell Megumi that he had a lot of potential!
I knew there was no way I was going to be able to replicate the progress of last night anytime soon, if ever. So while this was big news for me it wasn't something groundbreaking. I had just surpassed canon Megumi's growth in one night after all.
After thinking some more about his offer, I accepted. "Alright, I'll do it." I had already changed the plot so much… but I can't just follow it either because doing so would mean staying weak.
"Excellent!" Gojo smiles and brings one of his hands forward, chanting. "Emerge from darkness, blacker than darkness. Purify that which is impure."
And an almost liquid-like matter appeared above us and spread out in a dome-like shape, surrounding everything in a 100 meter radius. Seeing this, I couldn't help thinking about how much I still had to learn about Jujutsu. Curtains, Talismans, Incantations, Cursed Tools, Shadow Style, Simple Domain, Domain Amplification, RCT, Domain Expansion, and so much more…
It was honestly more than what many people thought of as vital for a Sorcerer, but why should Jujutsu be only for fighting? There were so many applications of it that were still undiscovered.
Curtains could prove to be even more useful for me than any other sorcerer before, because they could basically create a 'fake night' for me to summon and use Gama and even hide in shadows during the daytime!
I smiled, because even though I was probably going to lose this fight- that wasn't a lack of confidence merely fact - I would still win in a way. "Just don't go back on your words later on, alright Gojo?" I said confidently.
-3rd PERSON POV-
Gojo smiled, liking the confidence in his protégé's tone. Megumi's always been so lacking in confidence that this change in him is refreshing.
"I'll let you go first." Gojo said as he watched Megumi jump, warming up his body.
"Thanks." Megumi said as he kneeled and took out a metal bat from his shadow. Earning a raised eyebrow (not that anyone could see it through his bandages) from Gojo.
That's new... And what an interesting choice of weapon .Gojo smiled. Show me more Fushiguro Megumi!
Both sorcerers looked at each other from across the battlefield, one confident and one determined.
"Start!" Gojo yells as Megumi bursts into action. Weaving the handsigns to summon Gama as he ran into the woods. '[Gama!]"
That's smart, he knows that he would have at least some advantages in the shadowy forest. Gojo thinks. But I'm not gonna just stand there you know?
Gojo vanishes from his spot, so fast that it would seem that he teleported, yet he still held back. There would be no point to this if he wasn't able to show off his progress, and I'm pretty certain that I can survive basically anything he can throw at me. So it would be better to hold back so that he can show off.
Despite what many people would say, Gojo was a pretty good teacher.
Appearing beside Megumi, Gojo throws a punch at the shadow user's midsection.
-But before it can hit, Megumi is pulled into the shadows by a black tongue, Gama coming to the save of his Master. Gojo is impressed by the speed of the Shikigami, but knows that Megumi wouldn't hide for the rest of the battle; if he wanted to he could've from the beginning.
Fifty seconds remaining.
Soon he is proven right as from beside him, two three-dimensional shadows emerge. Both taking on the features of two wolves, enlarging from the shadows beneath a nearby tree as they attack him.
I did it! I partially summoned them and directly bound them to my own shadow… so that in exchange for their range, their attack would increase as well as make them unkillable. Megumi smiled from his hiding position, deciding to play this fight smart. Another problem with this is that I have to bear their weight.
"Hmm… are they your Divine Dogs?"Gojo asks out loud, wondering about the changes in their appearance. As they tried and failed to pierce his Infinity, he decided to ignore it, reinforcing his hands and punching them to easily defeat the,-
"Hoh?" Gojo quirks up an eyebrow seeing the two Shikigami wolves not destroyed despite taking damage… in fact they were visibly regenerating. "I see it now… you only partially summoned them so that they wouldn't get destroyed, that's clever Megumi…" Gojo then turned towards the darker than normal Shadow underneath the tree. "But in doing so you compromise your position."
Megumi's eyes widened as began to move, unsummoning the Divine Dogs. Gojo, not bothered at all by the unsummoning, said nothing, his Six Eyes piercing through the Shadows to see the CE of Megumi clearly. He brought one of his hands forwards pointing it in the general direction of the other Sorcerer as massive amounts of CE began to converge on his palm. "[Lapse: Blue]" said the Strongest Sorcerer as he unleashes his technique.
Megumi is pulled from his Shadow. Shit! Blue's gravitational force can even affect me inside the shadow dimension?! What kind of hax is this? Thinking of a strategy quickly, he yells. "Gama! Catch me!" and as the super fast tongue catches him, protecting him from getting caught in the sorcerer's attack, but Megumi quickly performs more handsigns. "[Nue!]"
"Screech!"
And the large bird takes flight, screeching and announcing its presence as it holds me with its talons.
Gojo turns off his Blue, his main objective of bringing Megumi to the battlefield completed. "That and the tongue ones are new! Did you just tame them yesterday?" He asks despite knowing the answer.
"Yeah!" Megumi responds, coming up with another strategy on the fly. This isn't working; none of my Shikigami can even touch him, let alone damage him. In an ideal world, I would've at least tamed Piercing Ox, unfortunately I haven't so I would have to fall back on my strongest attack and hope that it could hold him for long enough and for that I need a big distraction… "And this one's especially for you!" I yelled as I arrive straight above him and weaved the handsigns while desummoning Nue and falling on the back of-
"[Bansho!]" Max Elephant was honestly a mouthful, so Bansho would have to do. "Neigh!" The massive elephant roars as he falls, knowing his objective he aims his trunk straight down towards the white haired sorcerer, his massive weight helping his momentum.
Forty seconds remaining…
"Fire!" Instantly the massive elephant charges up his water in his mouth and fires it at him, the conditions for the beam allowing the beam to be charged instantly in return for a longer recovery period.
SLASH!
WHOOSH!
Tons of tons of water falls down on top of Gojo, obscuring his vision as I unsummon Bansho, muttering. "Gama put me on the ground quickly!" the black tongue exits from my back, using the shadows between the folds of my clothes as a portal, and wrapping me up to transport me safely to the ground.
Before all the water falls down and disappears, I quickly make another handsign summoning-
"[Madoka]" the blue furred deer is summoned beside me, quickly understanding her use as she begins charging her antlers with positive energy.
But unfortunately we don't make it in time as soon, all the water is repelled as Gojo fires another- "[Lapse: Blue]" and all the water is caught and compressed down to nothing.
"You're doing a great job entertaining me Megumi! If you keep going this way you'll be a first grade sorcerer in no time! Maybe even rivaling me with time!" Said the confident sorcerer not having broken even a sweat through his whole battle, genuinely looking a little proud of me.
Seeing the deer but feeling it give off positive energy, Gojo was intrigued but seeing Megumi touch the deer's nose and heal. Gojo concluded that the deer was merely a healer type Shikigami, deciding to put it out of his mind.
I said nothing as I took out a metal bat from my shadow, reinforcing it and myself with CE as I charged at him to buy time.
"Oh so finally fighting one on one?" Gojo says as he disappears and appears right in front me. "Are you confident that you can stand toe to toe with me here?" he whispers as he puts one of his hands to my face and slams me into the ground.
I coughed out spit as pain spread through my back, but quickly slid out and jumped back up, this time charging at him with the bat aimed straight at his head.
He easily maneuvers around my hits and shakes his head in disappointment. "Your fight style is basically nonexistent. And physical prowess is very poor. While your reinforcement is decent it too leaves much to be desired. You think charging blindly with your metal bat is a strategy but it is foolish. While your decision to fight hand to hand despite being a summoner type user is commendable, you'll have to work a lot to improve yourself in those areas." He breaks down all of my weaknesses in a few seconds.
30 seconds remaining…
I grit my teeth but keep trying to attack. Only to be out maneuvered and beaten into pulp in just a few seconds.
I stood breathing heavily, Madoka behind me a few meters away, my bat was twisted and dented, and my body was beaten to a pulp. My left hand was probably dislocated too but I still stood up pointing my bat at him, ready for getting beat up again.
