"How could they do that to you? Winnie said hugging Katherine, her friend had been going through a lot and she knew nothing about it.
Katherine had told Winnie to meet her at a nearby bus stop when she had called. They were currently in a taxi heading to Winnie's house.
"It's all my fault Winnie, why did I do it? Why did I take that stupid job? Katherine cooed calmly as they disengaged from the hug.
"You know Katie…", Winnie started off calmly, she was used to calling Katherine by her pet name, Katie.
"I have always wanted to tell you this, I think you should follow your dreams. I have always seen you work so hard to earn the respect of your father. It's time to be who you want to be." Winnie said taking a hold of Katie's hands.
"I am your bestfriend, I am not saying you should do as I have asked of you, but just think about it, it's your life and I want what's best for you…" Before Winnie could complete her sentence, Katie hugged her tightly.
"Where have you been all my life? Katie muttered trying not to be emotional. Winnie was like the sister she never had.
They got to Winnie's apartment, it was very late in the night. Winnie helped Katie out of the hospital uniform and gave her some of her own clothes to wear.
"I know this is a bit new for a wealthy heiress like you, but I hope you can put up with me for a while until you get a better place to stay in." Winnie said dropping a plate of noodles on a table in front of the chair Katie was sitting on.
"Winnie what are you saying, this is the best place I would rather be, thank you so much, I will make sure to repay your kindness." Katherine said gazing at Winnie emotionally. What would she have done if not for her?
Katherine father had seized her assets and blocked all her account so now she was completely insolvent.
"You don't have to repay me Katie, what are friends for? All I want is for you to follow your dreams." Winnie said and scurried into the kitchen, she was back with a glass of juice.
"Eat up you have become so lean, I just hope you don't snap into two one-day." She said jokingly. Katie has always tried to maintain her shape, being a model had it perks but also had its disadvantages. Since she had always wanted to become a model she made sure to maintain a curvy and slim body shape
Katie didn't just want to be a model she felt she could transform the fashion industry. She wanted to combine both and make a living out of it. That was her dream, but her family wanted to ruin it for her, well not anymore.
She was going to work hard, then prove to everyone that she could be what she wanted to be without her family, after that she was coming back for revenge.

Few months later
As Katherine gazed at the two red dot on the pregnancy kit, her legs weakened as she collapsed on the floor.
She was pregnant!
She had suspected this a month back but she had refused to go to the hospital for a checkup.
She was afraid, she didn't want to come to terms with the truth. How could she be pregnant for a total stranger? This was a disaster!
Tears whelmed up in Katherine's eyes as she gazed at the pregnancy tester for a while, she bit her lips bitterly…..
"I am going to get rid of this baby." She said immediately standing to her feet.
She took out her phone from her purse and dialed Winnie's number. Winnie wasn't picking up her calls so she decided to leave a message…
"Winnie I am going to the hospital, you might not meet me at home, there is some food in the kitchen in case you are hungry." This was the message she typed on her phone before pressing the send button.
She quickly freshened up and took a taxi to the hospital. When she arrived at the hospital, she decided to have a check up done again just to be sure.
She had to wait for the result for a while, she sat on a bench were other women were sitted also waiting for their pregnancy results. Some ladies smiled cheekily when they found out they were pregnant, Katherine watched as they flunt their pregnancy result to the other ladies and they were congratulated.
But her case was different, she was praying that the results comes out negatively and if it doesn't she planned on aborting the baby.
When the nurse holding her result walked up to her with a bright smile, Katherine knew that she was definitely pregnant.
"Madam congratulations you are…." The nurse didn't finish.
"Pregnant? I know that, please can I see a doctor I need to get this thing out of me" Katherine said rather harshly. The nurse was stunned, she had never come across such a nonchalant woman in all her life of being in that career.
She gazed at Katherine and guessed that the baby must have been out of wedlock. Katherine was too young to be a married woman, the nurse was right. Katherine was just twenty years old, and she wasn't planning on getting married anytime soon.
"Miss are you sure you want to do this? Should I arrange a counsellor for you? The nurse was being caring but Katherine's mind was made up. She didn't care if she dies in the process, she wanted to get rid of the baby.
If she keeps the baby how would she cater for it's needs? She didn't even know who the father of the child is. She didn't want this child to grow up asking her about the identify of the man it should be calling father.
Katherine didn't feel the need to keep the child. She was yet to recover from the trauma she had gone through some months ago. If she keeps the baby it would be a reminder of the pain she had gone through, it would remind her of the man who did this to her.
"I am absolutely sure about this, now would you please get me a doctor? Katherine said reassuring the nurse of her decision, the nurse was about to go and call the doctor when…..
"Katie!…. please don't do it." It was Winnie running breathlessly to where Katherine stood. Katherine was flustered by her abrupt entrance.
"Winnie what are you doing here? Katherine questioned helping her to take a sit on a nearby bench in the lobby. Winnie was still panting heavily from the way she had run in earlier.
"I should be asking you the same question, bestie what do you think you are doing trying to get rid of that innocent baby? Winnie stunned Katherine with her words.
Winnie had arrived a few minutes after Katherine left for the hospital. She was quite surprised that Katherine wasn't home and it was dinner time. She went through her phone and saw the message Katherine had sent.
She began to wonder what could have made Katherine go to the hospital so suddenly, her thoughts were paused when she saw the pregnancy kit Katherine had left on the counter.
Katherine had forgotten to put the pregnancy kit away because she was in a rush to get to the hospital and go through with the abortion. It was then Winnie had suddenly taken a good guess on why Katherine went to the hospital, she immediately became alert.
She tried calling Katherine but she wasn't picking her call, she immediately too a taxi and made her way to the hospital. She kept hoping she wasn't too late, she came just in time to see Katherine discussing with nurse.
"I am pregnant for a total stranger Winnie, you don't expect me to keep the child." Katherine was a little remorseful she didn't tell Winnie about it in the first place.
"That's horrible Katie, why would you do that to an innocent baby? You are snatching the right it has to come into this world." Winnie said, taking a hold of her best friend hands.
"I know it must be hard for you, but listen to me, you don't have to do this. I know this happened all of a sudden, it's a little startling but I don't think you should be doing this. Katherine please keep the baby."
Katherine gazed at her bestfriend with tears in her eyes. She must have been blinded by anger to have think of doing such a despicable thing.
If Winnie hadn't stopped her in time, she would have really gotten rid of this child! She felt ashamed of herself.
"You are right." Tears trickled down Katherine's face. "I am sorry...I am so sorry." She said hugging Winnie.
Winnie sighed in relief, she had thought it would be difficult to convince Katherine to keep the child.
"This baby already has the best mother in the world, I am sure you will be just fine, and hey I am also going to become a godmother." Winnie sounded excited as she disengaged from the hug.
"So are you keeping the baby? Winnie asked almost in a whisper her eyes full of hope. She wan
ted to confirm the answer from Katherine herself.
"Of course, I am keeping the baby."
