Time seemed to stop for inexplicable moments as several emotions charged through the atmosphere, the foremost being confusion on how we had gotten out.
"Hey man, are you sure you locked the cell properly?" The bald one asked his partner.
"So you want me to go check?" His partner retorted sarcastically, shooting his colleague a glare for the blatant distrust. "Of course I locked the cell. I even have the keys." He waved a heavy key ring in the bald one's face.
"Me gahd, why the fuck are they standing outside of it?"
"Me gahd, why are you asking me all these questions when you can just ask them?" The duo's head ricocheted sharply back to us. This was probably the first and last time I would hear them speaking so many words. I gave Mauktner a look that I hoped held a lot of meaning that he understood. We had to take these two out without alerting anyone else. We had to make as little noise as possible.
