Chapter 22 - Visitor

Something massive passes through the barrier. Its energy felt throughout the whole of the universe, its presence much greater than that of Chi.

Eta immediately goes to locate it with the orb of space, finding a pale-purple dragon observing the galaxy of the patterned space creatures. Its size much greater than that of even the form Eta took to fight Chi.

The dragon looks up at Eta. "I take it you are this universe's owner, correct?"

"Yes. Why have you come to my universe?" Eta comes up to the large dragon's eye.

"I felt the void gathering a few centuries ago and came to investigate. Low and behold, I find a universe so far away from most of existence." The dragon shrinks down to a more manageable size for the conversation.

"That is only a partial answer to the tale. Why did you enter my universe?" Eta remains on guard, knowing if an attack were to come out, the dragon would lose its power.

The dragon stretches out in its now smaller form. The titanic wings unfurling showing off that of a night sky within. "I came in to check out what kind of universe this is." The dragon lazily circles Eta, looking at her form that of a living amalgam of human, insect, and arachnid. "Wait." The dragon slows and comes closer to Eta. "You're a God of Souls aren't you?"

Eta retreats slightly. "How do you know that? Before that, what even are you?"

"My mistake, I should have introduced myself. I am Genshi, the Goddess of Combat and the youngest of the five primordial dragons." Genshi bows her head. "And who are you?"

"Eta, and as you surmised, I am the Goddess of Souls here. But how did you know that?" Eta stops retreating, now looking at Genshi with curiosity.

"Your feeling is very similar to other such I have encountered. Though I can see that you are quite inexperienced. You're only a few thousand years old aren't you?"

"How can you tell, genuinely?"

"My young Goddess, I have lived a long time and have seen thousands of fledgling and old gods in my time. Is there somewhere we could talk with an atmosphere? I can tell your voice should be something very unique and its hard to convey through thought I imagine."

Eta sighs and produces her orb of space. She holds it out and creates a portal to her home on Earth. "Are you able to become smaller? My home is not incredibly large."

Genshi chuckles. Her form glows as it compresses into that of a humanoid woman. One with scales on her arms, a crown of horns sprouting from her head and a scaled tail. Her hair and scales the same pale-purple and her eyes a dark red. She wears an outfit of a blacksmith with soot stained overalls and gloves covering her hands. "Is this enough?"

Eta just floats through the portal beckoning Genshi to follow.

The two gods arrive on the pillar that touches the sky. The place where Eta was raised, where she laughed with her parents, and where they said goodbye.

"Earth, figures. Such a common world to be at the center of things." Genshi peers over the side of the pillar to the east.

"Earth? You know of this planet?" Eta's melodic speech on full display now.

"Oh, your voice is sweet. Also yes, Earth is quite the common planet throughout the multiverse. In fact, my universe has an Earth just like this one. Now my young Goddess, may I use my powers to inspect you closer. I saw the laws of this universe when I entered so I'd rather not loose my powers." Genshi moves to Eta's home, holding open the door.

Eta's mouth agape as she just watches Genshi explore only closing it once the sun starts to set. "I know I am repeating myself, but how?"

"My dear, I have done this many times now so I will use my own powers to gather all necessary information such as reading the very energy that makes up your universe. I may not look it, but you don't get to what I am without being cautious. So Eta, may I use my powers to inspect you? I shall not attack nor mean any harm to you if you need confirmation, I swear on my powers." Genshi pulls out a staff of dragon scales from some invisible space and leans against it.

Eta sighs once more, "Yes you may, but can you explain just what your powers are?"

"Sure. I can see the truth in things due to my nature as a dragon. I can see the truth in your universe just as I see it in all things. And now, I can see your truth." Genshi closes the gap and stands directly in front of Eta. Her form smaller in size and height than Eta as she looks up. "Oh, you are not just a Goddess of Souls. You are the first Goddess of Souls." Genshi rests a hand on Eta's shoulder. "You, my dear, are a very important existence."

As Genshi's hand continues to rest in Eta, the black film that was left on her when the sword dissolved into her form tries to cover Genshi. Eta pulls back before it can reach the elder Goddess. "Apologies, this thing latched onto me when a being of the Void entered my universe."

"Interesting, that further proves who you are. I have figured out what I wanted, so now ask away my dear." Genshi moves back to the home and sits at the table where the old three once talked.

Eta follows suit and sits where Omega would sit. "Where do I even start? So there are other universes out there?"

"Yes. From what I can tell, it should be an near infinite amount."

"From what you said earlier, there are other gods and even other gods of souls. What makes me special."

"It is the fact your soul itself is the oldest one whom can manipulate souls. I can see you can even create souls which no other god can do. And I can see that your soul is only two halves which signifies it is within the first one hundred souls."

Eta leans back. "Every word you say spawns more and more questions."

"To summarize souls, each has aspects to it. Mine is a pure aspect of combat signifying I am of the first nine souls. Yours is of soul itself and void meaning it is within the first hundred."

Eta quickly straightens up. "Void?" Her melody swaying out of tune.

"Not the Void. Essentially when a soul contains a aspect of void, it is meaning it may be chaotic, emotional, less logical and slightly closer to nothingness. Tis why that piece of nothingness has been bound to you. Its quite concentrated too. The only thing you share with the Void is that both of you have the aspect of void in your souls." Genshi stands and places a hand on Eta's head.

"How long will you be staying Genshi?"

"As long as I need." Genshi heads out the door to watch the night sky. Her hair illuminating the area slightly with a pale-purple glow. The surroundings almost bending in space as her energy leaks out ever so slightly.

Eta joins the elder Goddess with a slate and brush in hand.
