Chapter 24 - The Dragon Lazes About

Genshi floats down to the ocean, touching the waves with her feet. She looks into the great blue ocean, pauses, and darts in. Eta hovering some distance above sees the elder Goddess come out with a large tuna, holding it by the tail over her back.

"Ah, Earth foodstuffs are always quite nice to come back to. Eta, can you eat?" Genshi rises up to Eta. Her left hand that of a dragon once again to hold the tuna.

"I am able to, yes. But why are you fixated on consuming something right now?" Eta looks over the large fish. Having not eaten another creature in over three thousand years now since Omega had taken care of her, she cautiously gets closer.

Genshi smirks, her soul radiating jovial energy. "It won't bite. I've already sent it off to the next realm." Genshi starts to rise back up the pillar, gliding over the bare stone. "I like to eat as it reminds me of my early days as a mortal being. And good food is worth eating like fish this fresh is amazing."

"Wait, you were mortal once? How do you say these things so easily Genshi?"

"Oh, woops. You want me to explain Eta?" Eta motions for her to go on. "Well just like how your soul is extremely old but your form and consciousness is young, the same happened to my soul. I was born as a human in a very far off universe where some strange things happened leading me to find my true form as that of a dragon." Genshi goes silent not explaining further. Even her soul quiets down for a few moments before returning to its usual confidence.

The two reach the top of the pillar, having taken their time as Genshi loves to slow down and take in sights. She places the tuna on the table in what used to be the kitchen and filets the fish into perfect pieces.

"Oh, I forgot to bleed it. Well, I guess I can't do it completely powerlessly this time." Genshi changes her left hand back to a normal human hand and holds it above the fish. The red blood starts to seep out of it and into her palm as a large crimson ball. She places it on the table, letting it roll about without letting out its contents.

Her soul calls out to Eta to help with preparing the meal causing the two to cook side by side. Eta using the orb of space and the staff of time to return the kitchen back thousands of years and add more items as necessary. The once quiet pillar now resonates with the clattering of stones. With small snickers when one drops something. The full blown laughter when a piece of tuna lands on Genshi's horns draping awkwardly. For the first time since the three gods had removed themselves from existence, a melody of joy rings out to the horizon itself.

Finally, the two finish and set the table with various dishes. Genshi's made expertly, the dishes like that of beautifully grilled tuna steaks or those combined with something that would be popular on Earth thousands of years in the future. Eta's dishes more of art pieces with a deconstructed feel to them. Using various ingredients to make the dishes into new 'paintings.'

The two Goddesses feast for the evening into the night, starlight illuminating the home as they finish.

"Beautifully done my dear Goddess. Was it fun to relax like this?" Genshi lays on the couch within the sitting room.

Eta looks out the window to a cluster of stars she always loves to paint. "It was a good moment of respite. But what is there to learn from this?"

"Nothing. Not everything has a grand purpose. Even we as gods can have lazy days. In fact, come outside with me real quick." Genshi bolts out the door.

Eta sighs and follows. The elder Goddess is a whirlwind that both never stops, and never lets up.

"Let's go for a little sight seeing." Genshi reverts to her dragon form, being easily large enough to fit the home on her back. "Come, rest your powers and let me carry you my dear Goddess.

Eta floats up and cradles herself with the natural crown made by Genshi's horns. The dragon takes off from the side of the pillar and stars to fly. She flies all about the Earth, catching the sun rays as they head to the other half of the planet. She flies above the fledgling civilizations of Earth, one in particular with architecture that carved into a lone mountain. There, some humans were fortunate to see a dragon soar across the sky spawning myths that would be retold for centuries.

The two then climb higher into the sky, reaching the edge of the planet's pull. Genshi catapults them into space at a speed many times that of light, protecting the not so young Goddess with her powers from the strain of doing such an act. The Goddesses tour the universe itself, peering into the largest of mega-clusters to that of rogue planets that had lost their star. Surfing the event horizon of black holes and diving into the cradles of creation causing new proto-star to form. Genshi happily moves through the universe, finally exploring this piece of existence that was born forth from the void and a being of souls.

They return to the home on the pillar before the next sunrise peeks its head above the horizon line. Eta hopping off of Genshi's head letting her return to her humanoid form.

"Its so interesting that your universe is closer to a work of art. Have you arranged it as such?" Genshi places a hand on Eta's shoulder.

"I may have when Alpha had trained me. And I may have written for them to stay in the formations when I chose the future I had wanted to live with Gamma." Eta smiles lightly thinking of her teachers.

"I do wish I had discovered this universe while those three were alive. They were some of the oldest beings in the multiverse, and they were born from the void right?" Eta nods. "Very few things are born from nothingness that isn't a direct result of the Void himself."

"I do want to ask something." Genshi's soul glows brightly in Eta's mind. "How did you travel the distance? Aren't there beings of the Void that would try and stop you?"

"There was. Key word, was. The Void is stuck outside of reality for at least ten millennia since I destroyed his Amalgam." Her soul grows bright with pride showing the scene where she faced the great Amalgam of thousands of hands, hundreds of faces, and dozens of worlds. The scene where it fell back, floating into the nothingness making the abyss between existence quiet.

"You are an amazing Goddess, I keep being reminded of such with every question you answer."

Genshi smiles her usual soft smile and turns to gaze upon the sunrise.

The two Goddesses, the elder and the not so young, watching the same sunrise together.
