Chapter 10 - final decision

At the Rodriguez household, a heated discussion was underway between Santiano and his mother, Mrs. Eva.

"Mom, how can you send a proposal to a girl I don't even know?" Santiano asked, frustration evident in his voice.

"You'll get to know her after the wedding," Mrs. Eva replied calmly.

Santiano's face darkened. "That's not what I'm talking about. Besides, I'm in love with someone else."

Mrs. Eva's expression remained unwavering. "Then end it. I'm not going to let you ruin this opportunity for the family."

Santiano's anger flared. "You don't understand. I'm not going to end it just because you say so."

Just then, Leon, Santiano's younger brother, walked into the room. "Grandma, is Daddy getting married?" he asked, his eyes wide with excitement.

Mrs. Eva smiled. "Yes, dear. Your father is going to marry a lovely girl named Cassandra Clifford."

Leon's face lit up. "Yay!" he exclaimed, jumping up and down.

Santiano shot his mother a disapproving look. "See, just accept this girl for Leon's sake," he said bitterly. "Fine, but don't expect me to be happy about it."

Meanwhile, at the Clifford household, Rose was returning home after a mysterious outing. As she stepped out of the car, she was greeted by Rowan, who had driven her home.

"So, this is where you live," Rowan said, his eyes scanning the impressive mansion.

Rose rolled her eyes. "Do you have a problem with that?"

Rowan smiled. "No, I'm just surprised. You're rich."

Rose's expression turned cold. "I hope we never see each other again," she said, walking towards the gate.

Rowan's smile grew wider. "I hope we do," he said to himself, driving off.

As Rose entered the house, she was met with worried faces. "Rose!" her family exclaimed, rushing towards her.

"What's wrong?" Rose asked, taken aback by their reaction.

Her mother looked relieved. "We were worried about you. Where have you been?"

Rose hesitated, unsure of how to explain. "At a friend's house," she said finally.

Cassandra's eyes narrowed. "What's that mark on your neck?"

Rose's hand instinctively went to her neck. "It's just a mosquito bite," she said, trying to brush it off.

Samantha raised an eyebrow. "A mosquito bite? That's a big mosquito."

Rose's face grew hot as she realized she might have made a mistake. "Well, it was a big mosquito," she said, trying to laugh it off.

Their mother intervened, saving Rose from further questioning. "Stop teasing your sister. She's just gotten back."

As the family dispersed, Rose let out a sigh of relief. She knew she couldn't keep her secret hidden for long.
