Chapter 13 - the visit 2

Ruby walked into the orphanage, determination etched on her face. "Are you sure they'll deliver them?" the teacher asked, concern lacing her voice.

Ruby's response was firm. "I'm not leaving here until they do."

The teacher nodded and called back the children, resuming the lesson. A few minutes later, the sound of containers being unloaded filled the air. Ruby, accompanied by the elders, went outside to meet the delivery team.

The man in charge, looking somewhat sheepish, greeted Ruby. "Ruby, you're really here."

Ruby's eyes narrowed. "What did you think? That I'd let you run away with my money?"

The man sighed and began to explain, but Ruby cut him off. "Just close the deal. Delay is common, but I'm not paying for your inefficiency."

The man nodded hastily and gave the order to unload the containers. Two hours later, after the delivery was complete, Ruby turned to James, a Catholic priest who worked at the orphanage.

"Thank you, Ruby," James said, his eyes shining with gratitude. "If not for you, they wouldn't have brought the supplies."

Ruby smiled. "It's okay. This is my orphanage, and these kids are like my own. I'm willing to do anything for them."

As they chatted, Ruby's phone rang. She excused herself and answered the call. It was Mike, sounding worried. "Ruby, is everything okay? I saw your missed calls."

Ruby's expression softened. "Yes, everything's fine. I was calling to ask about Dhruv. His phone's not reachable."

Mike hesitated, and Ruby's concern grew. "Is Dhruv okay?" she asked, her voice tinged with worry.

"Yes, he's fine," Mike said hastily. "His phone got spoiled."

Ruby let out a sigh of relief. "Oh, I see. Well, thank you for letting me know."

After hanging up, Ruby said goodbye to the kids and elders and left the orphanage. On her way home, she asked her driver, "If your girlfriend's phone got spoiled, what would you do?"

The driver's response was immediate. "I'd buy her another one."

Ruby smiled, intrigued. "I see. But can you tell me something? Is it wrong for a girl to buy her boyfriend a phone?"

The driver thought for a moment before responding. "If they love each other, no, it's not wrong. It's a sign of support and caring."

Ruby's face lit up with a smile. "Really? You think Dhruv would be happy if I bought him a new phone?"

The driver nodded. "Yes, I'm sure of it."

Ruby's smile grew wider. "Then can we pull up at the phone shop?"

The bodyguards exchanged a look, and one of them spoke up. "Ma'am, your father strictly ordered us to watch after you."

Ruby's expression turned pleading. "Please, I'll be quick. Just for a minute."

The bodyguards sighed, and one of them relented. "Fine, only because you're being annoying."
