Chapter 5 - the unknown lady

As the party came to a close at 12:00 am, the sisters prepared to head home. Ruby suddenly called out to her sisters, "Hold on, sis's."

Rose groaned, "What now?"

"Duty calls," Ruby replied, her voice laced with a mixture of amusement and urgency.

Samantha chimed in, "Why must it be now?" She was clearly ready to end the night.

"I really need to pee," Ruby said, rushing back into the party venue. "Fine, go ahead. We'll wait here for you," Cassandra said, leaning against a nearby wall.

As they waited, Cassandra noticed two men harassing an elderly lady. Her eyes narrowed, and she pushed off the wall. "I'll be back," she said to her sisters, her voice low and even.

Rose looked up, concern etched on her face. "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to check out something. Just be quick before Ruby comes back," Cassandra replied, already walking away.

Samantha muttered under her breath, "I wonder what she's up to."

Cassandra approached the men, her eyes flashing with anger. "Hey, you idiots!" she shouted, pulling out a gun from her purse.

The men turned to face her, their expressions sneering. "Who the heck are you?" one of them asked, but their voices faltered as they realized Cassandra wasn't joking.

"Someone you'll never mess with," Cassandra replied, her voice cold.

The men laughed, but their confidence was short-lived. Cassandra shot the ground next to their feet, and they yelped in surprise, running away as fast as they could.

The elderly lady approached Cassandra, gratitude in her eyes. "Ma'am, are you okay?" Cassandra asked, concern etched on her face.

The lady nodded, her eyes welling up with tears. "Yes, my child. That was a risk, but it was very brave of you."

Cassandra smiled and helped the lady into her car, after calling her driver. As they waited, the lady told Cassandra about her son's girlfriend, who had apparently kicked her out of the house.

After the lady's driver arrived, Cassandra bid her farewell. "It was nice meeting you, ma'am. Take care."

The lady smiled, her eyes shining with gratitude. "You too, dear. You're a true blessing."

As Cassandra walked back to her sisters, she felt a sense of satisfaction. She knew she had done the right thing.

The drive home was quiet, the sisters exhausted from the night's events. As soon as they reached their bedrooms, they collapsed onto their beds, too tired to even change out of their clothes. Sleep enveloped them instantly, their dreams filled with visions of the night's adventure.
