Chapter 3 - The party

The Clifford sisters arrived at the Jude's party, a high-society event that was the talk of the town. As they made their way through the crowded room, whispers and sidelong glances followed them. But the sisters were no strangers to attention, and they ignored the gossip, heading straight to the bar to order a drink.

Just as they were settling in, a woman approached them, her smile seemingly friendly. "Hello, ladies," she said, her voice dripping with sweetness.

Ruby responded with a polite smile. "Hi."

The woman's eyes scanned the sisters, her gaze lingering on each of them before settling on Rose. "You're all so beautiful," she said, her voice laced with insincerity.

Cassandra's response was immediate and icy. "Thank you, but we don't like compliments."

The woman's smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly recovered. "So, who among you is Rose?" she asked, her eyes locked on Rose.

Rose raised her hand, her expression wary. "That's me."

The woman's smile turned venomous as she slapped Rose across the face. The sound of the slap echoed through the room, and the sisters were shocked into silence.

Cassandra reacted instinctively, grabbing the woman's hand and slapping her in return. "You all are the same: husband snatchers and gold diggers," the woman spat.

Samantha's response was swift. "Gold diggers, huh? I guess you're referring to your family and your entire generation."

The woman's face turned red with rage. "SHUT UP!" she shouted.

But Samantha's sister, Ruby, was not intimidated. "NO, YOU SHUT UP," she shouted back, her voice echoing through the room.

The woman's face twisted in anger, but Cassandra's warning glance stopped her from speaking. "Just get your hell out of here before we do something we won't regret," Cassandra said, her voice cold and menacing.

The woman clenched her fist and stormed off, leaving the sisters to deal with the aftermath. The room was silent, with all eyes on the Clifford sisters.

Samantha broke the silence, her voice laced with attitude. "What the hell are you looking at?"

Some of the guests muttered under their breath, "They're so rude," but the party continued, with the Clifford sisters at the center of attention.
