Chapter 10 - Reluctant

~~~~
While she was home she couldn't help but think about what happened in the nurses office.
"I'll be there for you." She sighed and threw her head into a pillow. It seemed like now and days he was always on her mind.
"What's got you so excited?" Someone called out.
Secretly watching her, Xua Rong began to laugh.
She hadn't seen her so happy in a long time. Seeing that made her feel warm inside. Maybe things were looking up?
"Is it a boy?"
"GET OUT"
~~~

After a few days, Li Hua has started to feel better and could return to school.

After class ended she stayed after a bit to talk with her teacher. As she was grabbing her things she heard a slight knock on the door.

Su LingTian stood their leaning against it. "What's taking you so long?" He smiled. Seeing him she quickly grabbed her things and left the room. Ever since what happened he had been walking with her to the garden.

It was weird at first and she could feel her heart beating for the first few days. However she had gotten more comfortable.

"I heard a joke recently."

"Oh really?"

"You're not gonna ask me what it is?"

"You're gonna tell me either way."

Hearing this she puffed her cheeks. He was right but couldn't he at least act a little curious.

"I promise. It's a reallly good one."

"Ok."

She gave him a glare and continued.

"What do you call a crocodile detective."

"What?"

"An Investigator!"

There was a silence after as he stared at her.

"...."

"...."

The joke wasn't funny but as she looked at him with expecting eyes he let out a weak laugh.

"Wow that was actually a good one."

Hearing how insincere his laugh was she lightly punched his shoulder.

"Hey!"

"You don't have to pretend." She walked up a little further distancing herself from him.

He liked this side of her. She was funny..... Well She tried to be funny and was overall a sweet person. He understood her reasoning for portraying the opposite but he just wished more people got to know this side of her.

This continued on for weeks and life was full of bliss.

Occasionally Su LingTian would be questioned on where he was going but he would always come up with excuses. Lu Ting just couldn't shake the feeling something was off.

One day he decided to follow him. Su LingTian had went to a classroom instead of the library and seemed to be waiting on someone. He had hoped he was actually studying but when he saw a girl come out and walk away with him he felt his heart hurt. He shook the feeling away.

"Maybe it's just a coincidence." He told himself.

He decided to keep following them but the more he continued the more he realized he was wrong.

The two had been laughing and joking with each other the whole way. The look Su LingTian gave her was something he never saw. He couldn't tell who the girl was but whoever she was did something he couldn't.

He saw them walk into the garden and close the door. Watching their figures disappear he was left alone in the hallways. He thought this would've been a good idea but instead he wished he was back when he knew nothing.

~~~
Inside the garden, they sat next to each other on the same bench. Li Hua was looking in her bag vigorously.
"What're you looking for?"
"One moment...Here it is!"
She pulled out a new book. This was the typical story book but instead was a guide to flowers.
"We spend so much time in here I thought we should get to know some of the flowers."
"Actually that's a good idea."
"Really! Come on." She grabbed his hand and led him to a bush. It was full of flowers ranging from roses to lilies.
The weather was lovely and the sun beamed down on them. The scent of the flowers filled their noses as a gentle breeze blew by. He long hair was put in a ponytail but by noon it had started to fall apart. While they were looking a piece of hair blew across her face.
He leaned in slowly and he swept it behind her ear.
She turned to look at him and realized how close they were.
"Li Hua..."
"Yes?"
"I like you." He blurted out.
It took her a few seconds for her to comprehend what he said. He likes me…? She hadn't expected him to say that.
Seeing him waiting for her to answer, she decided on something better then words. Flashbacks to the music room played in her mind. This time it was going to happen.
She quickly leaned in a gave him a peck on his lips.
"I like you too."
He had been flustered by the sudden kiss. Wasn't it the guy who was supposed to kiss first? Even so how could he be satisfied with a peck? He grazed his hand on her cheek and kissed her again.
What happened in the garden that day belonged to no one but themselves.
They left the garden holding each other's hand. When it was time to part ways they found themselves reluctant.
"I'll see you later?"
"Yeah. Of course."
As she walked to class she had a sudden revelation.
'"Did that really just happen?" She shrieked.
