Chapter 11 - Jealousy

Everyone turned to look at her.

Seeing her new found attention she awkwardly laughed,

"Sorry"

She turned and quickly walked away.

In class she tried to pay attention but her mind kept wandering back to what happened. She quickly covered her face and laid her head on her desk.

She had never felt so flustered in her life. I mean this had never even happened in her life. 'It's just a guy. Nothing special.' She thought.

She pursed her lips and tried to pay attention in class again. However she didn't make it very far when the image of him appeared in her mind again.

"...."

~~~
The day went by slowly and it was time to go home.
While in the car she looked out the window at people on the streets. It had only been a few weeks ago the world seemed bleak and grey but now it seemed to be bright and sunny.
She breathed in and smiled at the fresh air. Life felt good for once. The weight of the world seemed to have disappeared. In her thoughts she didn't notice Li Yan eyeing her from the side.
Her face was dull and blank. Her eyes incredibly cold. She wasn't stupid obviously. It wasn't hard to notice that Li Hua had been acting strange all day.
She seemed....happy. The thought irked her.
She pulled out her compact mirror and started fixing her lipgloss. Seeing her reflection in the mirror she started to calm down.
This always worked. I mean look at her. She was the daughter of a rich family whose life was set out for her. She was on top, the queen, and everyone beneath her were mere peasants.
What did she have to worry about? Li Hua was nothing but a dog that followed her command. The thought of this power made her smile.
'Humph what's gotten into me. It's like I've lost my mind.'
She had almost forgot about the whole ordeal when she heard Li Hua whisper something.
"Tian..."
"..."
Tian..... did she mean Su LingTian?!? He was the reason behind this. The thought made her insides boil. She suddenly remembered back to the nurses office.
"I think I'm in love." His words echoed into her ears.
She unconsciously began tightening her hand. Her grip was so hard her mirror cracked.
Hearing the noise, Li Hua turned to look at her. Some of the glass had stuck into her fingers and she was bleeding slightly. She wanted to ask if she was ok but was reluctant.
No need as the driver upfront looked back asking,
"Are you ok young miss?"
"Of course." She barked back. Her voice filled with anger.
The car became eerily quiet.
Li Yan turned her head to look out the window. However, rather then look out she stared at the object reflected in it.
Li Hua.
Jealousy began to build inside her.
"Oh my god! Are you hurt seriously?!" Feng Mian screeched upon seeing Li Yans injuries.
Seeing her daughters hand she nearly fainted.
"How did this happen?" Li Zhang asked concerned.
Seeing this, Li Yan began to tear up.
"It was a mistake. I...I-"
Seeing her obvious 'frustration', the two comforted her.
"It's ok. Accidents happen."
"Really?" Li Yan pouted
"Of course."
In actuality, it was only a few cuts that wouldn't even leave a mark, yet the two were so concerned about it. Of course they shared these feelings for her but not Li Hua.
Li Hua stood for the side as memories flooded her mind.
When they were younger, Li Yan had pushed Li Hua down the stairs. It wasn't very high to seriously hurt her but the result of the fall was that she had twisted her ankle and needed a doctor. Rather then care about her safety, Feng Mian took the opportunity to yell and berate her.
"How could you be so clumsy."
"What a mess of a child."
She cried that Li Yan has pushed her on purpose but they disregarded her.
"Li Yan would never." Her father joined in.
"Really Li Hua I expected more out of you. Your sister loves you dearly."
She had expected her own father to at least stick up for her but instead he was on the opposite side. Hearing his words was like a sword piercing her heart.
"Gosh does she ever shut up." Feng Mian whined.
In the end she was put in a hospital with only a few of the help to accompany her. The amount of times either of them visited her could be counted on her fingers.
She was only 9. She cried for her mother the first few days until she realized no one was coming. It was a very dark time for her and she never felt more alone.
Coming back to the present, Li Hua rolled her eyes looking at them. They put on this "perfect family" display for the world but deep down they were all rotten. She collected her things and made her way to her room.
A few more years and she wouldn't have to concern herself with them.
