Chapter 14 - Date

The day was over and it was time for everyone to go home. Li Hua contacted the driver to tell him to not wait for her.

Apart of keeping their relationship hidden was their secret meet up spots. There was the garden, the music room, and a few empty hallways.

She arrived at the garden and he stood there waiting outside the door. When he saw her approach he let out a toothy smile.

"There you are"

"Ok Mr. Su what's the deal?"

"Come on this way." He grabbed her arm and lead her down the hallway out into the back area. The school was surrounded by fencing and trees. There was nothing in the back so she was really confused.

"What are y-"

"Shh- look."

They walked towards the trees and he pushed a few bushes revealing a path.

"Woah." She had never heard about a path behind the school. It was overgrown obviously forgotten. The occasional bug would fly past her face but she wasn't worried about it. The whole thing felt like a movie.

They walked along the path till they came to an open area. The grass was flat and there were a bunch of flowers. In the middle was a pond that had little fish swimming in it.

"Wow! This is all so cool... but what're we doing here?"

"You'll see."

They sat on an old bench and said nothing. The silence was only growing. "Uh, what are we waiting for exactly?"

"Oh it'll take a moment so you might want to find something to occupy yourself with."

"Oh ok."

She pulled out some of her workbooks and did some of her assignments. When she got tired of that she went to play with the fishes. They weren't anything special, just plain brown fish but they were so interesting. Did they know they were in the middle of nowhere or was this lake all they new.

Some time had passed now and it was growing dark.

"Hey um..it's getting pretty late we should probably head back."

"Wait, it's happening."

Almost as soon as he said that lights began to emerge from the grass. Fireflies! They brightened it the woods around them and surrounded them.

"So pretty!"

While she was observing the scenery, Su LingTian grabbed her hand. "Look up"

The sky was so clear and full of stars however the best thing was the moving object in it. A shooting star!

"Make a wish." He whispered in her ear.

Feeling his breath near her ears she felt a shiver go down her spin. If this were a few days later she wouldn't have had a wish but now she knew what she wanted.

She closed her eyes and thought 'I wish for nothing to change'

She opened her eyes to find him staring her straight in the eyes.

"Ii Hua I-"

"Do you feel that." She cut him off. It was slight but something wet had definently hit her shoulder. Suddenly rain began to pour down on them.

"Shoot! Come on let's go." He grabbed her hand and lead her back through the woods. They ran hard but it was no use. By the time they reached cover they were completely drenched.

They stood under an awning huffing. Su LingTians face was discouraged. "I'm sorry I was jus-"

He was going to continue talking when Li Hua burst out into laughter.

Su LingTian didn't see what was so funny, they had just been rained on?

"Hey are you ok do you need to see someone?" He was worried she was delirious.

"No I'm fine. I just find what happened very amusing."

"Amusing? My plan was ruined. Don't you feel upset." He for one was absolutely crushed.

"No I don't think our plans were ruined at all. This has been one of the best days in my life." She laughed.

He pulled her into a hug. She nestled her head into his chest.

"You're such a baby."

"I'm only this way for you."

.....

Seeing the rain had stopped, he noticed it was getting pretty late.

"Come on I'll talk you home."

Li Hua didn't live far from the school only a 30 minute walk plus a bus ride.

At her front gate they said their goodbyes. "I'll see you on Monday."

"Of course!" He said as he turned around.

Li Hua made her way into the house and made her way to her room. However as she was about to climb the stairs she heard someone call her.

"Li Hua can you come into the living room for a second."

It was her father calling so she knew it had to be serious. He never wanted to see her if it wasn't necessary.

As she opened the door, she saw Feng Mian, Li Yan and Li Zhang sitting at the table.

'Dear lord' she thought.
