Sam could not contain her grief. She let him wrap his arms around her as he comforted her. Everyone, inside the room, kept quiet. They did not know how to respond. They did not want to get in the way. They practically knew that this was between husband and wife.
The struggle of between marriage was like a battle with never ending hope to hold on. It was trusting your back to the person without knowing anytime he or she could stab you to death. As for these young couple, their fight had just started.
"You can hit me countless of time" Charles cooed. "You can slap me hard or punch me, just don't leave me please" he pleaded. He pushed himself away and looked straight at Sam's eyes.
"Look at me" he said before he wiped the tears away with his expensive looking handkerchief.
"We do have a child together," he said carefully. He was very cautious with his words.
"It is the child's right to have a complete family. I still love you, Sam. I am well aware you hate me because I hurt you. But I know, deep down, you still have feelings for me" he said as he pushed her hair away from her face. Her sad face was apparent.
"If you want, I am going straight face to face with your grandfather. So, you can see that I am serious to have this chance" he said.
Sam looked at her attorney who was waiting for her response. She was deep in thought as she struggle deep inside. She knew that her child was in need of a father. She knew that she still have feelings for him if she kept being swayed like this.
"Charles, I need you..." then someone entered the room. Sam could only focus on the lady wearing a corporate attire. Her pencil-cut skirt was to short that it show her flawless long legs.
Everyone was looking at her, but it had seem that the lady was not disturbed. She looked at Sam as if she could not do any harm. Her poise showed how elegant she can be. Sam who was stare at this lady, hit back the painful memory she had. She could not contain the hate deep down in her heart as she remember someone's back when she was left in that lonesome house. She could only look away as she tried to control her emotions that was deep down which she never expected to reveal. Her face showed indifference, but her heart was in chaos and her mind had one thing keep nagging at her. "I have to get away" she kept saying to herself. She pulled away her hands and was about to leave, but Charles held her.
Charles clung on her as he displayed his desperation in front of his wife. He knew something is wrong with his wife. He was shaking even though he tried not to, but he failed miserably.
"Did you know I am in a meeting with my wife, Clara?" Charles spoke angrily. Clara froze in spot. She was scared with his anger. She did want to lose him even more. However, she knew that they were in the meeting. She was anxious as she waited for them to end quick, afterall, its for their divorce paper. But as time went on, she felt unsure to what had happened inside the conference room. Her fears consumed her as her thoughts rilling that the divorce would not push through. She took the risk to get the slash of Charles' anger to make the divorce happen.
"Oh my, I really am not aware" she said innocently as if trying to play an act. Yet, Sam could clearly see the hint that she did know.
She tried to get away from Charles' embrace, but he would not budge.
"Now, you are aware. You can go out now" Charles snapped.
"But Charles the..." she spoke out, "GET OUT" he said firmly. Clara could feel her heart being crushed. However, she knew she had to leave. She left without looking back and hoping for the outcome.
"Clara is working here?" she exclaimed,
"Yes, my grandfather put her in despite my protest" Charles defeated.
"Charles... " she struggle to say a word, but Charles kissed her to assure her that she should not worry.
"You can come with me every day, and made sure that she would not come close an inch from me" he said,
"Do I look like a body guard?" she scoffed, "I dont think this chance is possible Charles" she added. But before she could walk away. He scooped her up and walked out of the room.
She was surprise and felt embarrassed as the employees were looking at her with curiosity.
"Everyone, meet my wife. Remember her face, she will be coming with me 24/7. Do respect her or else" he said at the center of the room. Their eyes were on her while she was still on his arms.
"Congrats sir" everyone cheered. They were not aware that their boss was married. They were assuming that Miss Clara was their soon to be lady boss, but they were deeply wrong
