~WAVERLY~
The days went by faster than my mind could process. Waking up that morning felt wonderful and refreshing, unlike most mornings in the palace. Miri had greeted me with a warm cup of tea, and I spent the first hour doing nothing but staring out the window, at the sprawling Eastside garden.
Standing up to those bloodsuckers I called parents had felt good. They had to understand that I wasn't going to bend over and allow them to walk all over me again. I had been molded by the very life they put me through, and now, they had to put up with the results.
That particular demand had been so ridiculous that recalling it made me scoff. Demanding shares in the family business? That did not even classify as greed anymore. More like pure insanity.
I rid myself of the thought and allowed Miri to doll me up in front of the full-body mirror. Today was the day of the ball, and Kaeren would officially become the Alpha.
