I thought it would be just like any other day— where Drodd and Imogen rolled out demands and my sister would be pressured into accepting the increasingly ridiculous additions.

The shock that gripped the entire living room when Waverly stepped forward with an air of confidence, not at all like the scared girl I once knew, as she flatly rejected them. Like a little girl, I pumped my fist inwardly, happy at this turn of events.
Imogen was the first to erupt. Her face had reddened like an overripe tomato as she yelled, "Did this brat just talk back to us?" she made a dramatic display of looking up, down, left, and right. "Has my hearing suddenly gone bad? Did Waverly just talk back to us?!"
"She sure did…" Drodd was more taken aback, so he was slower to respond. "Have you forgotten the power we possess? We can bring down this ridiculous facade you think you own because your mate is set to become Alpha!"
