"Emily?" Louis called her again. "What are you doing out of your room?"
Emily didn't panic. As Louis' guards took heavy steps toward her, she stood her ground outside even though her heart pounded.
With a fast, desperate reflex, Emily leaned heavily against the smooth wood paneling of the hallway wall. She tightly clutched her pregnant stomach, her features twisting into a flawless mask of agony. She let out a sharp gasp, allowing her knees to buckle slightly as she began to slide down toward the polished hardwood floor.
"My stomach..." Emily groaned aloud, her voice a fragile, trembling whisper. "I... I need the doctor. The medical emergency call button in the master bedroom isn't responding."
