Chapter 1 - The Sunmmoning Gate

The night was restless. Stars glittered above like countless eyes, watching silently, and the wind carried the scent of damp earth mixed with something unnatural—like electricity waiting to explode. Kael Ardyn stood at the edge of a cliff, hands buried in the pockets of his worn jacket, his gaze lost in the abyss below.

He was not the kind of man who believed in destiny. To him, life was nothing but a dull routine: wake up, scrape through odd jobs, sleep, repeat. The world felt too ordinary, too flat, too full of people chasing trivial goals. Kael often thought of himself as a spectator in a grand play, never the actor, never the hero.

But tonight, the stage shifted.

A circle of light formed in the air, spinning slowly like a cosmic wheel. Ancient symbols appeared, glowing gold, weaving into a vortex of energy that pulsed with life. Kael cursed under his breath, assuming it was a hallucination born of exhaustion. Yet when the ground beneath his feet trembled, he realized—it was real.

"Realm of Infinite Trials…" The voice echoed, deep and commanding, resonating from both the earth and the heavens.

Kael staggered back, but the vortex pulled him forward. In an instant, he was swallowed by the light, falling without direction, like a leaf caught in a storm.

He awoke on unfamiliar ground. The sky was a deep violet, scattered with floating islands and towering crystal spires. The air shimmered with magic, heavy and oppressive, as though the world itself rejected intruders.

Kael touched the ground—it was cold, smooth, and gleamed like glass. "Okay… definitely not Jakarta," he muttered, his sarcasm intact even in confusion.

Before him stood a woman. Her hair was long and silver, flowing like moonlight. She wore a white robe inscribed with glowing runes, her eyes sharp yet softened by hidden warmth.

"Welcome to the Trials," she said calmly. "My name is Lyra Veyra. You… look like someone who has lost his way."

Kael raised an eyebrow. "Lost? I don't even know how I got here. And who names a place 'Trials'? Sounds like a cheap reality show."

Lyra's lips curved into a faint smile, though irritation flickered in her gaze. "This is no game. Every step here is a test. Fail… and you vanish—not only from this world, but from all worlds."

Kael swallowed hard. He wanted to laugh, but her eyes told him this was no joke.

A rumble shook the ground. From the mist emerged a shadowed creature, twice the height of a man. Its eyes glowed crimson, its body wrapped in swirling black fog.

Lyra lifted her staff, the crystal at its tip blazing with light. "Your first trial begins now."

Kael stared at the monster, then at Lyra. "You're kidding, right? I don't even have a weapon."

As if in answer, a sword materialized on the ground before him. Its blade shimmered blue, simple yet radiating strange power. He picked it up, and energy surged through his veins.

"Trialblade," Lyra whispered. "A weapon that appears only for those summoned. Each trial will change it… and change you."

Kael sighed. "Fine. If this is a dream, I might as well look cool." He raised the sword, smirking at the shadow beast. "Alright, monster. Let's see whose luck runs out first."

The creature roared, and the battle began.

The clash was chaotic. Kael swung wildly, barely blocking the beast's strikes. Sparks of blue light burst with each impact, as though the blade itself resisted the darkness. But Kael was no warrior. His movements were clumsy, his footing unstable, his survival owed more to instinct than skill.

"Move your feet faster!" Lyra shouted, casting beams of light to hold the creature back.

"I'm not an athlete, okay!" Kael panted. "I couldn't even finish a school marathon!"

Despite his complaints, something stirred within him. The Trialblade vibrated, responding to his stubborn will. Each time he refused to give up, the sword glowed brighter.

The beast lunged, claws slicing through the air. Kael stumbled, barely dodging, then swung with desperate strength. The blade flared, cutting through the fog. Cracks spread across the creature's body, light seeping through.

With a final roar, Kael slashed downward. The shadow shattered into fragments of light, dissolving into the air.

He collapsed, gasping for breath. "Okay… if this is a dream, I hope I don't wake up. Because in the real world, I've never looked this badass."

Lyra approached, her eyes assessing him. "You survived your first trial. But this is only the beginning. Thousands more await."

Kael looked up at the swirling violet sky, then chuckled weakly. "Thousands? Great. I love challenges… as long as there are nap breaks."

Lyra sighed, half exasperated, half amused. "You are… truly strange."

Kael smirked. "And you've just met the laziest hero in the multiverse."
