After our middle-of-the-night rendezvous, I was too awake to go back to sleep.
"Hey, how about a walk?" I asked Roman.
He looked at me like I was crazy.
"It's late - or early, depending on how you look at it."
"It's the city that never sleeps," I said. "Look at all those lights. I'm sure we can find something to do. Ooohh, maybe an all-night diner? I could go for some pancakes."
"Alright," Roman agreed. "If my wife wants pancakes, I'll get her pancakes."
We both dressed. Unfortunately, we had to wear what we previously had on. Finally, we exited the hotel room.
Outside, the air was crisp, and Roman wrapped his arm around me, anticipating the chill. There were cars still driving by at that late hour, although traffic was light. Walking along the sidewalk, except for the cars, it was pretty quiet.
Roman looked up the address of a diner, and we sauntered in that direction. I loved looking at the city at night, the way the lights twinkled against the dark sky.
