There were several guns trained on us as we walked out of the front door with our hands up. "Hold your fire," Ed yelled.
He ran over to us and escorted us to safety behind the cars.
"That was pretty brave what you did in there," he said to me. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Roman needs his hand checked out," I said.
Ed looked at us, unsure what to do at first. Then he hugged me and then Roman.
"Bill, take Roman over to the paramedics," Ed told one of the other agents who accompanied Roman over to another truck.
"Thanks for trusting me," I said to Ed.
"I don't know everything that went on in there, but it seems like whatever it was, you succeeded."
"I guess," I looked over at Roman.
Now that we were outside, the sun starting to set after our hours long ordeal, I just felt like collapsing.
First, my brother had miraculously pulled me out of a building that was set to explode. Then, I realized my husband was being held hostage. It had been a long day.
