I didn't waste any time.
Once the gun clicked once, then twice, Jessica realized she was in trouble. I ran over to her and grabbed the gun, trying to elbow her in the chest, but Jessica had a good grip on it.
Realizing it was worthless anyway, I tried delivering a side kick to Jessica's chest, which sent her stumbling backward.
"Cut me free," Roman said.
I looked back at him, considering whether I should keep fighting or free Roman. I lunged at the knives on the kitchen counter, grabbing one of the bigger ones. As I scuttled toward Roman, Jessica jumped on my back.
I roared and tried to shake her off. She grabbed my hair and pulled. Turning toward her, I sliced the knife her way, but she dodged me.
I held the knife at her, threatening to stab her. She held up her hands.
"Give me the knife," Roman said, and I handed it to him.
He began to cut the ties from his legs. I braced myself. As soon as the knife left my hands, Jessica sprang at me, tackling me to the floor.
