I sat in the car, staring at the house. I looked at each window, hoping to see something that would give me a clue.
"What if someone just came and kidnapped them?" I asked. "Shouldn't we go in there and look for clues?"
"We'll go in. We will. But first, I'm calling for back-up."
I could hear Ed on his phone telling his colleagues he had a possible situation at Roman's estate. He asked for back-up, and to my surprise, they granted it.
"They heard about the explosion," Ed said. "I warned them that we hadn't heard from Roman or anyone we know was inside the house earlier today."
I nodded. It was a good first step, but what if...
I wouldn't let my mind go there. Roman would be fine. He had to be. We had a baby to make, and there was nothing that was going to stop me.
"Are we safe here?" I asked, thinking about the explosion that had just rocked my world.
"Not sure. But we're far enough away from the building in case it - poof!" He made a gesture imitating a large puff of smoke.
