I cuddled up next to Roman in bed. "That was a pretty good evening," I told him.
"Yeah, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves."
"I know. Ed and Kristen were so cute, and Lori and Marcus seemed really into each other. I wish Lauren could have joined us."
"Don't worry. There's still plenty of time for Lauren and Martin to get together. For now, we have to make sure to keep you safe." He hugged me close.
"What about you? We don't even know who the target is."
"I'll take Miguel to work with me tomorrow. Stan will go with you," Roman warned. "Speaking of which, wasn't that weird about how Freddy's girlfriend asked where you'd be tomorrow?"
"She's just overall weird," I said.
Meeting her hadn't put my mind at ease. I still felt like there was something off about her, but I couldn't exactly determine what it was.
Before falling asleep, I thought about her, still trying to place her face, but with no luck.
The next day, I met Lori at the Charity House with croissants for breakfast.
