Together, Lori and I walked into the office that used to be our father's but now belonged to Freddy.
I breathed a sigh a relief; it looked completely different. Apparently, Lori wasn't the only one in the family with taste.
Freddy had replaced our father's big, sturdy, wooden desk with a modern glass topped table sitting on industrial pegs. There was a modern multi-colored throw rug decorating the middle of the floor and various cubist-like paintings adorning the walls, echoing a contemporary geometric theme.
In contrast to our father's austere and stodgy office that had clearly been decorated like a royal study meant to appear important and more grandiose than it was, Freddy's office was vibrant and welcoming.
"I like the digs," I said, glancing around at how Freddy had transformed the space.
"Thanks. Out with the old, in with the new, and all that," Freddy said.
