"You're supposed to be the nice one," I said throwing a dodging a fistful of piecrust and cherries.
"I don't mind trying on a different hat now and then," she said, and I took a piece of my imperfect apple pie and threw it at her face.
With a malicious grin, one of the students picked up a pie and threw it at the person they came with. Then, he stomped in the remnants, both of them smiling and laughing as if they didn't care that their hard work had been ruined.
I embraced the craziness of the pie throwing like everyone else in the room. Both Lori and I were all in, licking cherries from our faces along with avoiding errant pie crusts being blasted around. This wasn't the ending to the afternoon I thought it would be, but it ended up being so fun.
It was such a release to throw around a bunch of pie, get messy, and not care. The room was messy with everyone's plastic covering splattered with pie along with their faces and hair.
