We had a good time at the party, even if it was hard seeing Lori so happy. After playing a game of charades and watching Martin slowly sidle up to Lauren, I was getting tired. I sat on the couch with another beer, Roman sitting next to me.
I wanted to be happy for my little sister, but it broke my heart to see her living in such a place that seemed to be falling apart. Our father would have been embarrassed by her living arrangements. Then I took deep breath and closed my eyes. Our father didn't have any control on us anymore, I told myself.
If this is where Lori wanted to live, and she was happy, I had to be happy for her. It was a good thing that she wasn't overextending her resources like Court would have to put on airs. Still, I secretly wished Lori would have stayed at Roman's.
At the end of the night, we were the first to leave. "It's really cute," I said to Lori, holding back my criticisms about the place.
