"What are you boys up to?" I said in a curious way. I slunk into the room, pulling my robe closed over top of my silky pajamas.
"Martin here wanted some tea, but I couldn't find any decaf, so I made warm milk."
"Yuck," I said and stuck my tongue out.
"It's pretty good," Martin said. "He put vanilla in it."
"Oh, look who's a chef now," I said to Roman.
"Just a little trick I learned," Roman said in a confident tone.
"Have any other tricks?" I asked.
"Not tonight. Think I should be getting back to bed," Roman added.
"No, stay," I said, pulling on his arm.
"I think my shift is up. The warm milk is making me tired already. Stay, keep your brother company," He patted my hand and turned to leave the kitchen.
Martin and I watched Roman turn and start to leave the room, grabbing his bat on the way out. "Wait a minute," I said, "what's with the bat?"
"Oh, I thought it was a burglar, but..."
