I bought a s'mores cupcake with a graham cracker tasting cake and marshmallow icing with chocolate chips. It was so delicious; I ate every bite and licked my fingers. I bought one for Stan, too, who ate it in two bites.
The others enjoyed their lemon, red velvet and carrot cupcakes with equal delight.
"Wow, this place is really good," said Lauren. "Wonder why I've never been here before."
"Oh come on, Lauren," I joked. "Look at you, you don't eat cupcakes."
"I like to stay fit, yes," she said as she pushed her hair over her shoulder. "But I like to indulge once in a while."
I sipped my coffee and looked out the window.
In the bright sunlight, I had to squint, but I thought I saw a man with a possible weapon in his pocket, head down, hood pulled tight, rushing toward the front door.
"Um... I think it's time we go," I scooted up next to Stan. I didn't want to freak anyone else out, so I kept my concerns to myself.
"Is there a back way out?" I murmured to Stan.
