"I'm not sure we have any decaffeinated," I searched the cupboards for the tea Martin had been looking for. "I can ask someone to get some in the morning. Actually, why don't you make a list of things you need, and I can have them dropped off at your place," I told him.
"Yeah, my place," he said with a little laugh.
"Seriously, I heard Lori is going to fix it up. Maybe make it more to your liking?"
"Look, I really appreciate that," Martin looked a little apprehensive, "But a little refresher will never make it mine. You know what I mean, right?"
He looked at me, and I did understand. It would always be my guesthouse.
From what I gathered about Martin, he didn't like people doing things for him. He certainly preferred to take matters into his own hands. I couldn't blame him for that. In that way, we were a lot alike.
