Chapter 1 - Reincarnation In New World

The morning was sharp and still, the kind of Tokyo autumn day where your breath hangs in the air like a secret. Yukio was on autopilot, his mind drifting toward the mundane—maybe the leftover ramen in the fridge or a difficult level in a game he'd been stuck on for a week. The world felt permanent, safe, and utterly quiet. Then, the peace didn't just break; it shattered.

A scream ripped through the air, followed by the guttural, metallic roar of a diesel engine. A flash of a bright yellow jacket caught his eye as a kid bolted toward her mother, right into the center of the asphalt.

Yukio didn't "choose" to be a hero. There was no internal monologue, no weighing of the risks. His legs simply moved. He felt the sickening jolt of adrenaline hit his stomach as he lunged, his fingers snagging the rough, cheap fabric of the girl's coat. He shoved her—hard—toward the sidewalk. For one heartbeat, there was a vacuum of total silence, a wall of chrome looming over him like a falling building, and then a bone-shaking thud that turned the entire world into white noise and static.

The cold didn't last long.

A light, so bright it felt heavy against his skin, tore through the dark. In the center of the radiance stood a woman—or the silhouette of one—shimmering with a warmth that felt older than the stars. The Goddess of Life.

"Your story ended before the book was finished," she said, her voice sounding like a thousand whispers layered into one. "You can rest now, in the quiet, or you can start over in a place where the rules are different. A place where the sun rises on a different horizon."

Yukio looked down at his hands; they weren't solid anymore, they felt like smoke caught in a breeze. He didn't have to think about it. The fear was gone, replaced by a sudden, sharp hunger for more. "I want to live," he said, and for the first time in his life, his voice didn't shake. "But not like before. I want a life that actually feels like an adventure. I want to see something impossible."

The Goddess smiled, and the light around her began to swirl into a blinding vortex. "Then I will grant your wish," she replied, her image fading as the world began to rush back in. "Be ready, Yukio. Adventure is rarely kind, but it is never quiet."

When Yukio opened his eyes, the cold asphalt of Tokyo was gone. Instead, he was lying in grass so vibrant it looked painted, breathing in air that smelled of wild jasmine and honey. There were no roaring engines here. No grey skyscrapers or tangled power lines. Just a vast, rolling emerald forest that stretched as far as he could see.

A sudden flutter of wings caught his attention. Perched on a nearby glowing flower was a tiny bird with feathers that shimmered like a soap bubble.

"Finally! I thought you were going to sleep through the whole afternoon," the bird chirped.

Yukio froze. He didn't just hear chirping—he understood the words perfectly. His mind raced. The Goddess, he realized. She didn't just give me a new life; she gave me a new tongue.

"Who... what are you?" Yukio stammered.

"The name's Chibi," the bird said, puffing out its chest. "I'm your official adventure partner. You requested a life that wasn't boring, right? Well, you got it."

A grin broke across Yukio's face. The fear of his final moments was replaced by a surge of pure, electric excitement. This was exactly what he had asked for.

"Ready to start your journey, Adventurer?" Chibi asked, his tiny eyes sparkling with mischief.

Yukio stood up, feeling lighter than he ever had in Japan. "Ready."

"Good," Chibi whispered, looking toward the dark treeline. "Because that shadow moving in the bushes? It's been tracking your scent since the moment you landed. We need to move. Now."
