Chapter 2 - Out of Hell, Congrats — Your New Life Is Slightly Better

When Veil finally opened his eyes, he was in a forest and he had a physical form. Sure, he didn't know what he looked like, but he could hear the sounds in the forest, such as the deer running around. He could taste his own saliva, feel the grass on his fingertips, see the beautiful forest in all its glory and the blue status window in front of him, and smell that foresty smell. Veil didn't even care about the status window in front of him; he just got emotional and cried because he was out of hell finally.

After a few minutes of waterworks, Veil tried to get up, but he fell rear-end first into the green grass. After ten or so minutes of falling and cursing, he got up and managed to stand. His balance was off at first because of his new body and getting used to his balance. Finally, he looked at the blue status window in front of him.

A voice spoke inside of his mind. "Master Sloth, it has been eons since you have last awakened. Though the current you is weak and can't manifest me fully, how would you like this pathetic servant to address you?" The voice sounded feminine and cheerful — very, very cheerful.

"Who are you? Where are you?" Veil screamed. He was very alarmed; he had just escaped hell, he had no plans on returning so soon. He repeated these words two times before the voice in his mind finally responded.

"Ahem, my apologies, young master. My name is Luna, the servant of Sloth. Like all other sins, Sloth has a servant or attendant, if you will. I'm the servant of Sloth. You may call me Luna, young master. Pardon my extreme rudeness for putting myself on the same level as you, but what is your current name, young master?"

…It took Veil a good five minutes of silence to put together what she said and put his thoughts and memories into order.

"So can you help me?"

"No." Luna's answer was swift.

"Why not?"

"I have no power as of now. My physical form was sealed by four gods: the God of Death and Creation, the Goddess of Life and Time, the Goddess of Luck, Probability, and Space, and the God of Water, Lions, and Destruction."

"Master, I must rest now."

Veil roamed the forest for two hours. Although this forest should be called the Forest of Death, Veil saw many horrific sights. Luckily, the sights didn't see him. He saw a pair of minotaur — let's, um, say were repopulating — a dragon who was resting in a cave on a pile of gold, diamonds, and really any treasure you could think of. He saw a slime, which he thought he might be able to take down before he witnessed it dissolve a rock.

The minotaur were too focused on their — let's call it activity. This was truly a blessing because under normal circumstances he would be dead in minutes. He could tell that the minotaur were muscular and intelligent. Most of the media he consumed and the pure muscle of their legs told him the minotaur were fast.

The dragon part was a bit of an overreaction. It was definitely a baby one, but it could still possibly overpower him. Maybe it could even shoot fire — not something worth losing his life and returning to hell for.

Slimes seemed to not have the intelligence minotaur have, as it was just walking around. Maybe if he threw a rock, he could destroy the red orb-looking thing in its acidic liquid. Most media he knew told him that would kill it, but once more he truly did not know the full capabilities of a slime, so he ran.

So far, Veil had been lucky. He had also observed that most of the monsters and animals were low level — just slimes, goblins, and animals such as deer and rabbits.

He had seen multiple groups of goblins from a distance hunting deer and rabbit, which more or less confirmed his theory that he would not encounter such high-tier dangerous monsters often, or maybe ever again.

New Forced Quest Detected

Quest: Kill 15 goblins Progress: (0/15)

Penalty: Death

Description:You can understand all languages in the universe and speak them without even thinking about it.

[Note detected — My poor pathetic Sloth, face the world for once. Stop hiding and running. If you don't, I'll kill you. — From your favorite goddess]

This mission was straight bullshit. He had no weapons, no experience with murder, no idea how to kill a goblin without alerting the other goblins nearby. In short, this so-called Goddess of Reincarnation's test was just him walking into a death trap all for her amusement — and yet he was the sinner, or more accurately, Sin.

Sigh.

After a few moments of hesitation, Veil picked up a gray rock and made up his mind. His next actions were either going to get him killed or save his life.

So he walked through the cold grass and crept up closely to a group of goblins, following them along a path to their cave hideout. He then climbed up a tall tree, and now the last thing he had to do was wait for the blazing sun to set and for the moon to rise.
