Chapter 1 - Awakening

The air was heavy with expectation inside a large white hall as several young figures from ages fifteen to twenty-five stood there. They spoke to each other, some high with anticipation and others filled with fear of what was to come.

The door at the top left of the room opened, and everyone suddenly looked at the door. A man walked in, tall yet muscular, as his muscles bulged from underneath the tight turtleneck shirt that he had on. He had on some combat trousers and boots, his figure was really stunning, a dream to men and a fantasy to ladies, and to add salt to injury, he had dashing white hair and blue eyes.

Yet even after looking so good, he carried a heavy and sharp presence. The moment he walked in, he pulled the attention of everyone, the noise came to a low hum and then vanished.

"That's Captain Alex." One of the boys said to his friend.

"Captain Alex? Whoa, isn't he one of the people that survived the trial ten years ago?" the friend replied.

"Yes, I heard he is a warrior and one of the top today."

"Today, all of you will be undergoing your awakening, today you'll know what power set you have before stepping into the God's trial." His voice cut through the room of over one thousand and still managed to reach every single person.

Including a certain figure that stood at the back, Aren, a young man of eighteen, tall, black hair, and good-looking for the most part, but his slouched posture and sunken eyes made him look sick.

Aren wasn't from this world, he came from another known as Earth, after getting beat up by a neighborhood gang when he couldn't give them the usual money he had. They would always extort from people like him who lived in that shitty place, but that night he had nothing and that led to a heavy beating that ultimately led to his death.

That was a month ago, after he died, he woke up in this world in the body of an eighteen-year-old package delivery boy that died of exhaustion. When he arrived here, he was confused, but a few days in he realized that this was his new reality and that this oddly similar-looking world was not the same as the one that he came from.

He came to learn that this world was living on a timer, and that every ten years, the God's trial began, an apocalyptic-level occurrence where everyone from the ages of seven to twenty awaken and enter the trial grounds to fight for their survival and the survival of their world.

Centuries ago, the first trial happened, it started with a cataclysmic event where nearly half the population of humanity was destroyed, and then a being that called itself the messenger of the gods introduced the trials, and told all of humanity that if every ten years, before the next trial, no one defeats the trial, it would be the end of their world as a whole, a complete wipeout.

And ever since then, decade after decade, the trial happened, and everyone awakened, but not everyone risked their lives to go due to the weak abilities that they awakened, and for those that did, at least ninety percent never made it back from the trial.

But even then, as scary as it sounded, the trials were something every young person looked forward to, as those that returned came back stronger, and were capable of entering the trial grounds even though they weren't participating. It was the ultimate wish for many, to evolve and become strong, strong enough to punch mountains, why wouldn't someone want that?

Well, Aren didn't, he didn't want to be part of this. His life before here had been dark and gritty, an orphan with no place to call home, abused in all foster care and at the hands of anyone that wanted to.

This new life was an escape, he lived a month here feeling free, delivering food and sleeping at night. But as the date of the awakening drew near, nightmares began to creep in. He saw himself being torn apart by monsters, battling entities he had never seen before, and when he woke up, the God's trial was what was on his mind, and he couldn't forget about it until he found himself here at the awakening ceremony.

He looked up at the stage, it was about to begin, a strange crystal panel was set at the center with a handprint on it, he could already tell what it was.

"Alright, there are at least a thousand of you here, so this will be fast.

"As you all know, there are six classes you can awaken from.

"The Combat class, or warrior class, the mage or caster class, the spirit class, the shifter class, the controller class and finally the creation class. Each of your abilities is a sub-form of this class and will be categorized in level of growth potential.

"From F to S, and you all know what that means, F meaning you have the weakest talent and S meaning the highest as your growth potential is the highest possible."

Those last words made everyone a bit scared, getting an F simply was useless, there was no need entering the trials as you would die, you had no room for growth and your ability was weak and trash, no one wanted that, it would be better to stay outside then.

And just like that, the awakening began, one by one, people started taking their turns and their ability showed on the large screen behind, Mage class, Flame user, D. Combat class, Durability, C. Mage class, Water user, F.

Soon enough, the horror began, and tears began falling amongst many, but then one walked up,

[Control Class, Gravity user S]

The entire room fell silent, they all looked at the podium, including Aren, a young lady of eighteen stood there, purple hair and eyes with a proud expression on her face.
