Synopsis
Ambition’s Slave One choice. One forest. No way back. Eshaan was born to serve in the Royal Army, or so his father demanded. But when the long-awaited results arrive, the silence in his home is deafening. Branded "useless" and crushed by the weight of his own failure, Eshaan turns his back on the kingdom that rejected him. He flees into the Strange Woods—a place of myths, prehistoric predators, and bone-chilling stares that haven't been felt for five centuries.

Chapter 1 - The Slumber

I stood in front of my father. He towered over me with his six foot stature, His face was strict, covered with a dense moustache and a beard, both dark black in colour, and his shoulders broad, He was the figure of a real ideal man for me. His eyes looked straight into mine with the sternness in them, and he said, "Well done my son...I am Proud of you," as he patted my not so broad shoulders.

That was the first time when I had heard appreciation for me from his mouth. How long? How long? Had it been since I had waited for this moment. I was smiling, a smile which was trying to reach my ears but I was trying hard so they don't reach my ears.

"Thank you for your kind words, father," I said with a hushed excitement.

"My dear son, Eshaan, I need to tell you something important," he told me.

"What is it?" I was concerned with the sudden change.

"You are late, Late."

"Huh?" His words were distorted. What was he saying? I couldn't comprehend. "Late?" What did he mean?

"You stupid brat...Late..." He yelled with a voice which was not his.

I blinked my eyes, and then it suddenly started to pour. "How Can it rain?..it is not the season to rain?...what bizzare?"

I looked towards the clear sky, which was adorned by the radiant sun god. Suddenly it started to pour heavily. Then the heavens came crashing down and with them came the great flood.

"Father... something is wrong...we..." Before i could complete my concerned sentence, my father slapped me hard, and yelled again, "Wake up, you moron."

"Whhhhh....no...."

I woke up. My head heavy. It was naught but a dream. And there was the reason of why my sweet dream suddenly got so weird, the reason who took me out of my sweet slumber to this not so lovely reality. The reason was just beside my bed standing, with an empty but wet bucket in her hands, she, too, towering over me with her 6 foot stature. The reason was none other than my dear mother.
