Chapter 1 - The Best Option

[same author. A book about a boy who sees visions of cool characters. He does not try to understand the supernatural. He makes the supernatural understand him, his story. The story is realistic/supernatural with funny scenes, action scenes.]

It was a special morning. I get to school feeling more energetic. I don't recall the last time I felt this way, but I do know about the dream that I had last night.

This dream created pictures of the slums. There was someone defending the slums. A powerful demon was standing before that someone. That someone was me.

With no time to react at all, the demon raised its sword to deliver a powerful blow.

I lift my slouching head when the teacher calls me to the front desk. He was clearly disappointed. Soon after, he hid his usual face to the rest of the class when he tells me that today will be the last day of school for me.

My grades as of late have been pathetic. My teacher adds to the report that there is no way he can help me if all I do is nap during class time.

"Will I still be able to go to some new school?" Zed asked.

I have my doubts about what school I really want to go to. My life would be really different if I knew more about school or the purpose of school. All I knew was that there was time to pass by while napping.

"If it's only your grades that are declining, I don't see why other schools wouldn't accept you. But don't even think about going to a prestigious academy. I've made it my goal to not let you get there!" the instructor responded.

I could tell he was joking with that last sentence, but I still hold back the laugh. I yell back, "I don't plan to!"

With that, I set my new goals. I'll leave this school, go somewhere else, enjoy my free time away from hell. I still have to tell my friends about it first, so I run around campus to look for them, not knowing what would happen, the school calls for a lockdown.

I hear a dozen different phone noises around the classroom. I look down at other people's phones with the news report message, "STRANGE PORTALS HAVE SHOWN UP AROUND THE CITY."

I push the desk back to get up only to terrify a great number of students. I look back to their phones again. More news messages, "HUMANOIDS, STAY AWAY FROM THEM."

Knowing I have to hurry, I ask some of the students whose names I don't know if they had seen my friends. Most of them stated that they have not, but I refuse to give up so easily. I ask the class again; this time a genius student answered.

I climb down the stairs, head past the school entrance of the building, arriving to the narrow street. From across the street, I could see a perfect view of the humanoids pushing my friends away, leading them down a dark route. That's when I decide to follow them to see what's up.

I hide behind a wall to hear what they say.

A demon: The Demon Lord will be pleased with these sacrifices!

That's when one of them revealed a knife.

With no second thoughts, I walk up to them.

Zed: "Yo! What have you captured my friends for?"

The demons look to where I am with confused expressions.

a demon: A boy! here!

They tie up my friends. That's when I start to get upset.

Zed: What are you doing now?

The demons don't answer. One of them charges at me with a glowing axe.

I am able to block the axe with my right hand before pushing the demon to the ground with little effort.

I see a demons' menacing grin, a chill suddenly running down my spine.

I look down to my arm that is bleeding heavily with a different color. It was dark, it burns, but unlike a regular type of sensational pain. I then understand that I've been poisoned, but did this not affect my movement at all?

I charge at the demon still able to dodge more attacks. Only when I see the right time to counter do I grab the demon using all my strength to throw them to a garbage can, forcing the lid shut. The rest of the demons attack me with no weapons, but while I don't have movement restrictions, I still struggle to hold myself back. I dodge each of their attacks to leave the demons gasping for air.

I might have defeated one demon easily, but three might be too much especially with no weapon.

I try to reason with them, but they don't listen.

Mad demon: don't get cocky because you defeated Josh. My two bros will show you how powerful demons are!

They try to build up what looks like magic, but it disappears.

Furious demon: "what?! Why didn't my magic work?!"

Suddenly my eyes start to burn with uncontrollable pain. One look at the demons tells me that they look human. If not for the glowing eyes, I couldn't tell.

Demon [Level 1]: What do you think? Is he a demon?

As crazy as that sounds, I can't say I feel regular right now.

At last, the demon talks to me. They tell me that they need the demon lord to reawaken, so they can find peace with this world.

Zed [Level 3]: Who is this powerful demon?

I did not know about the existence of the demons up until now.

Demon [Level 1]: That is not critical right now! Just join our side!

Soon they talk about themselves. All three of them are low rank demons. So that is why their abilities/powers won't work regularly. Also, the effects such as the poison from before won't be effective.

I appreciate the demons for giving me the information, but I also tell them that I still need time to think about choosing sides.

Then I notice someone else. The class president demon hunter.

Tim [Level 1:]: Great, Let's get out of here!

The three demons scurry away. I guess I'll stay to fight then. I still can't believe I'm fighting for the demons right now, but the burning sensation of my eye returned, itching for a fight. I wanted to fight, so that is what I'll do. I charge up using all newbie skills available, but there are no signs of

the abilities working. Of course! Probably cause of the poison. Readying my defense, there is less than a second to dodge her silky fingers, her gun, but not her feet. Still trying to defend was not enough, because I couldn't dodge her sharp heel. Then, right after, there was not much I could do.

I stayed bleeding against the floor.

"What even happened?!" I thought about it. "There was no way that had happened. How could I have lost so easily?" I try to get up but no way possible because of the poison. I couldn't move my body. Is this how I'm going to die?

Sometime later, I don't see my friends or the class president. The argument that I made was pointless. I was ignored. I had told them that perhaps demons, humans could coexist but here I am

 waiting to die.

The three demons named Joseph, Tim, Owen then return. I have partially recovered from the pain I had endured. I end up heading to the slums where the demons live to discuss the next plan.

When I get there, I talk about myself first. I talk about my goals, my hobbies, what I enjoy doing when there is free time. There was a lot to talk about. For the time being, I got a place to stay around the slums area. The houses weren't the best, but I could get used to it.

When I'm done talking about myself, I have a conversation with the leader of the demons. We talk about the different ways the demons could take control. How the future looks if the demons were to lose these battles. Ultimately, the right choice had to be made.

Zed [Level 3]: There is only one way that I see possible for demons to live this world with peace. We have got to surrender this losing battle now.

[Northeast of the capital]

Soldier: Alright leader, we captured all the demons!

leader: That's great! Now the demons cannot terrorize the people of our country. All the demons will die for what they have done!

This scares the demons, especially the kids who then cry for their parents.

The communication device turns on; leader takes a few breathes to stay composed then answers it.

"Hmmm. Then change of plans." the leader said under his breathe.

He then turned off the device before speaking to the room loudly so all can hear.

"We will not be killing the demons for they have surrendered. For now, Victory!"

The soldiers complain about whether it is a good idea to spare the demons or not.

The leader walks up to the leader of the demons who was composed the entire time. His name was Ikke.

"I am your leader, so your position doesn't matter to me. I will tell you what to do. If you or your people need some stuff, you can call me first, but you have to call me leader."

"
