Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Twilight's POV

I slowly turned around.

"Fine, fine you caught me. What do we do now, throw me around like a dog?" The stranger just stood staring at me.

" I don't have to do anything to you. I was just passing by" from the voice I knew it was a

woman. But she disappeared as quickly as she appeared.

I couldn't lay my hands on the books that brought me here cause I needed to leave, someone had already seen me.

I quickly returned back to my cell, locking my door and taking a spare key and leaving the

rest on the body of the guards.

—The Next Day —

The sound of bells and guards shouting woke me up.

"Get up! You have rounds to run and things to do. Get up!" One of the guards poured me

water like I wasn't already awake.

This place was going to make me lose my shit before I got what I wanted. I slammed the door in their face but before the door slammed shut I saw James staring at the commotion.

I hate him so much.

I got ready, had my bath. I restrapped my knife and got dressed. They handed out leather outfits and that alone made me realize they were going to make us do a whole lot of work.

"Floor 3! Line up, breakfast is in 2minutes. Miss it and you've missed it. General Isla would be here soon for general inspection and passing out of orders." James screeched because that's exactly what his voice sounds like in my ears.

I looked at the people on my table. I remembered Prati from yesterday.

"Hiiii! Oh my you're on my table" Prati excitedly said and everyone turned to look at me.

"Hi I'm Nixon, a scholar. Floor 1" I made a mental note to keep him close.

"I'm Lysa, a healer. Floor 1 too. Well we are all on floor 1 except you I guess?" Lysa cocked her head to the side."I'm Twilight." The silence on the table was immediate but I continued anyways "A nothing actually I'm just good with sharp objects, Floor 3." No one said anything immediately, just staring at me.

"While are you guys staring at her like she grew two heads." Prati tried to lighten the

awkwardness.

"But she's Twili…." She was interrupted by the right hand man to the general Nolan.

"Everyone, drop all the plates and head to the courtyard. Breakfast is over."

Everyone hurriedly walked to the courtyard but I had other places to be. I slipped away from the crowd and found my way back to the Library but this time a guard was there.

"Hey where do you think you're going!" He lunged at me with his sword. I moved to the side letting him free fall to the ground. He tried standing up but I placed my leg on his neck pressing a nerve that knocked him out.

I quickly rushed to the archives and there was a book on the history of Aretia. It was small but it was enough. I felt a slight headache and a tug in my mind but I just felt it was because I didn't eat enough.

"If I was you I'd be heading back to the courtyard now that you've gotten what you wanted."

Again!

I turned and now I could see her face clearly.

"In case you aren't aware, I'll be addressing you guys soon." She walked away.

"General Isla?" I said out loud.

"Yes." She replied with a slight smirk before walking out of the library.

I sprinted out of the library and blended back in with the other inmates.

"Where did you go?" Lysa asked me. "You know you could get killed if you don't follow

orders."

I just shrugged.

"Good morning. I'll keep my thing brief, I'm general Isla as many of you know and the few that don't. I'll be in charge of this camp. As you know you're either here because you don't have a dragon, you're a late bloomer, you're a different species or you're dangerous." Her eyes glanced over me.

What's wrong with these people and me?"There'll be routine check ups, sparring sessions, events and a dragon bonding day. Just in case you are actually a late bloomer that's why it's called a redemption camp. You'd be able to redeem yourself and if you are without a dragon we can see how much help you can offer to the kingdom. And if you don't fall into any of these categories…" she paused a bit.

"You will be killed." And a collective gasp was heard across the courtyard.

"Without further ado, today's agenda you'll be put in groups. And the group you're in is the group you'll be in till you die or leave." She was about to step down then she turned.

"And remember your life isn't guaranteed here. You die, we move on." And she exited the stage.

"So basically survival of the fittest." Nixon said.

"Yup, anyways I hope we are all in the same group tho." Prati chimed.

They grouped us and as expected we were all in the same group.

"Look who it is. The all so powerful and mighty Twilight, I thought they'd never arrest you.

Rumor has it that James was the one that got you arrested and blah blah blah." A random girl with red streaks in her hair said to me.

"Anyways, hopefully you make it out alive. Toodles"

I turned to everyone and looked for an answer.

"That's Willow. She's a mystic witch." Nixon replied.

"Don't take it to heart, she's a witch, that's how she is and she'll most likely try to kill you."

Lysa shrugged

"No offense to you Prati" she added.

I looked at Willow as she started barking orders at her group members as she was appointed group captain.

I felt that dizzy feeling again, this time I noticed a black line forming from my wrist and my heart started pounding more than it should.

I felt someone standing behind me but when I looked back no one was there.
