Chapter 2 - The magic in the Dust

In present, Lucky was the "Unlucky Clumsy Girl" of Banglore who couldn't keep a job for more than a week, she broke every phone she touched and lost every job she started. She felt like a ghost in a modern world that moved too fast for her. Her only light was Hero, her best friend.

Her dreams were so vivid that Lucky spent her weekends in the state library, scouring dusty archives for a kingdom that didn't exist in modern textbooks.

Lucky's life was a series of broken umbrellas and missed buses. One rainy afternoon, she ducked into a cluttered scrap shop to avoid a downpour. There, buried under a pile of rusted iron, she found it—the golden watch from her dreams. When her fingers touched the metal, she felt sudden current of visions replaced by a surge of warmth.

She took the watch to Hero, a brilliant but struggling mechanic who was the only person who silently adore her and believed her dreams were real. "This isn't a watch, Lucky," Hero said, prying open the casing to reveal gears that moved without a battery. "It's a heart made of brass and spirit."

Days later, while searching for answers, a book literally fell from a shelf in the library. The cover depicted that same watch. The author was Vasu, a loyal servant of Kaalmayi.
