In the distant past...
After the chaos of iron and flame had finally subsided, the world lay quiet and still once more.
Many creatures forged and baked by the Witches scattered far and wide across every corner of the land.
Among all those who wandered through the new world, there were the five.
Five Cookies, graced with Soul Jam of the purest kind imaginable.
Wise beyond their years, and powerful beyond measure.
They went out into the world and rallied others to stand with them in their cause.
Taking their places as kings and queens alike.
They ruled over all Cookies with care and wisdom, bringing forth a golden age filled with peace and great prosperity.
But this age was not fated to last forever.
A Harbinger of darkness rose up from the depths below and let shadow and evil seep into every part of the land.
And once more, the world erupted into terrible chaos.
But the five Cookie heroes – steadfast guardians of peace – have risen to meet this threat head-on.
Twilight covered the land from edge to edge, and the war for the very destiny of Earthbread begins now.
...
They ran as fast as they could through the winding corridors of the dark castle, where huge forks jutted from cracked walls and crumbs littered every step. The whole structure was slowly crumbling into pieces around them, stone and dough breaking apart with each passing moment. White Lily Cookie spoke, her voice heavy with worry amidst all the destruction.
"This is... Oh no, what a truly horrible sight to see."
Cookie crumbs were everywhere you looked throughout the castle grounds – each one marking where brave Cookies had fought against the darkness and died with dignity in battle. Hollyberry Cookie spoke next, her tone sharp with concern.
"The whole place is covered in Cookie crumbs!"
Dark Cacao Cookie let out a low grunt as he took in the grim sight and the acrid smell that hung in the air.
"Foul Sticky Cream... The stench of burnt butter clings to everything here..."
Golden Cheese Cookie moved through the wreckage, inspecting every detail with wide-eyed shock.
"What on Earthbread is going on here?!"
Then Pure Vanilla Cookie spoke out last of all, his expression clouded with anxiety as he thought of Dark Enchantress Cookie.
"It's not good at all. Dark Enchantress Cookie has declared open war on the Vanilla Kingdom."
Dark Cacao Cookie replied, his voice carrying a note of mild frustration.
"The same Cookie who has brought the Cake Monster into our lands before?"
Pure Vanilla Cookie nodded as he spoke further about Dark Enchantress Cookie's recent doings.
"Yes. She attacked our home while I was occupied dealing with matters elsewhere."
Hollyberry Cookie let out a short laugh and smirked confidently.
"Hah! That's gotta be some hard flour she's made of, to pull off such a brazen strike against us."
Pure Vanilla Cookie spoke again, his voice now full of wary determination.
"We must find Dark Enchantress Cookie quickly if we're to stop her! Let us make haste!"
Just then a swarm of small cake monsters charged straight towards the heroes. Dark Cacao Cookie wasted no time – he channeled his power into his sword and struck out with brute force through the horde of snarling creatures. "Darkness Begone!" he roared, and the path ahead was cleared completely so they could keep moving forward through the hallway.
But soon enough a second swarm appeared, thick and fierce as they blocked the path once again. Hollyberry Cookie planted her feet firm and raised her shield high as she charged forward. "Out of my way!" she shouted, and smashed right through the horde of cake monsters with incredible ease, clearing the way so they could run on faster than ever to find Dark Enchantress Cookie.
After pushing through endless corridors and fighting off wave after wave of foes, they finally reached the end of the path. The hallway opened into a vast chamber where Dark Enchantress Cookie stood tall with her staff held firmly in hand. Behind her rose a massive throne of twisted darkness, with writhing tentacles spreading out from its base to wrap around every part of the room. She wore a wide, knowing smirk on her face as she looked down at the five heroes standing before her – each one looking fierce and determined to defeat her once and for all.
"And so, upon the ruins of your beloved home, we finally meet face to face. You're rather late you see... far too late to stop your own demise!"
Pure Vanilla Cookie stepped forward and exclaimed with urgency.
"Dark Enchantress Cookie! What is the meaning of all this destruction?"
Then Dark Enchantress Cookie spoke out, her voice echoing through the chamber as she posed a question to them all.
"Do any of you truly know the real reason why we – all Cookies – were ever created in the first place?"
Golden Cheese Cookie's patience had run thin, tired of her speaking in riddles about things they did not yet understand fully.
"What rancid NONSENSE are you peddling to us now?"
Dark Enchantress Cookie held up a hand as if to calm her for just a moment, then continued on with her question.
"Now now. Take a moment and THINK about it carefully. I hope it's not too difficult a task for you all. Why do we even exist?"
Hollyberry Cookie stepped forward to answer her question without hesitation.
"That's easy enough – we're here to live our lives and be happy, all together as one people! That's exactly why we were brought into this world in the first place. Happiness, Dark Enchantress Cookie. That's what everything is all about."
Dark Enchantress Cookie let out a light scoff at her answer, her eyes fixed on Hollyberry Cookie as she spoke. She pressed them further, wanting them to see what she believed was the real meaning behind their creation and purpose.
"Oh really? And when pray tell do you think you're the happiest? Is it when you fall down and crumble into nothing? Or perhaps when you become – dare I say it..."
She paused for a long moment before letting out a cold laugh that echoed off the dark walls.
"SOGGY!"
Dark Cacao Cookie spoke out then, his voice strong and full of resolution as he gripped the hilt of his sword even tighter.
"We stand together as one people – in peace and in battle both. This bond is our greatest strength!"
Pure Vanilla Cookie nodded in full agreement with Dark Cacao Cookie's words. He placed a hand over his Soul Jam as he spoke, his voice filled with gratitude for those who made them.
"So true! We love and thank our Creators for giving us our deliciously sweet bodies and all our unique talents!"
Then he lifted his staff high up towards the dark ceiling as he continued speaking with genuine warmth in his voice.
"And there is no hardship or trial we cannot overcome – as long as we stand Together!"
Dark Enchantress Cookie's smile faded almost instantly at his words. She looked at each of the heroes in turn, her eyes burning with what seemed like anger and disappointment.
"RUBBISH! FOOLS! All of you are blind to the truth!"
Her smile quickly returned though, sharp and cold as she prepared to show them what she called the tragic error in their thinking.
"I shall show you all the terrible mistake you've been making – right here, and right now!"
