Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - Bloodline Awakening

In the year 3100, human civilisation has advanced in technology, space travel and has made all other planets habitable.

It was a time of peace and unity among nations worldwide but everything changed when the aliens attacked.

The aliens were called Vikons; they had human-like structures, but what differentiated them was their dragon-like scales, the horns and their heads. Each of them had a different scale colour, which displayed their power level.

Human technology was ineffective against them and they conquered planets as they were approaching Earth.

All seemed lost until people with extraordinary abilities known as the Originals came into light and shared their abilities with the world which gave the world a fighting chance.

Even though human civilisation had a fighting chance, the gap in strength was too large, and they were still losing.

The human civilisation finally found out where the leader of the aliens, known as Drakon, was and attacked with all their might. They were severely injured, but this led to a stalemate in the war.

The human civilisation and aliens decided to negotiate and cease fire.

Even though the threat has ended, human civilisation suffered massive damage. The human civilisation was split among 4 power houses and all decided to cooperate and train new ability users to fight against the upcoming threat

In a small, cosy apartment on Midway Street, a young man named Theo Taylor stirred awake from his bed.

He had a skinny, fragile frame, his complexion pale, his eyes dull and lifeless as though exhaustion had long since taken residence in them. Thick black curls framed his face, giving him a boyish look that contrasted sharply with the quiet weariness he carried.

Theo rose from his bed and went through his morning routine in silence. He bathed, brushed his teeth, combed his hair, and dressed neatly in a corporate white shirt, black trousers, and polished black shoes. After slipping on his glasses, he grabbed his bag and stepped out of his apartment.

Theo walked to school.

He was still a high school student, attending Bedrock High School. After his classes ended for the day, he headed straight to the library to study for his upcoming physics test, scheduled for Monday at noon.

As Theo passed through the school corridor, three students noticed him.

Billy Barker stood with two others James Parker, a Level 2 earth ability user, and Paul Heid, a Level 3 metal ability user. Billy himself was the strongest student in the school, wielding a Level 3 wind ability.

When Billy saw Theo heading toward the library, his expression darkened.

Billy despised Theo.

Despite having no abilities, Theo was the most brilliant student in the school and was admired by teachers and students alike. That admiration burned Billy's pride, filling him with jealousy and resentment.

As Theo disappeared into the library, Billy clenched his fist and spat on the floor.

"How can someone like him be compared to me?" Billy growled. "I'm the strongest student in this school."

James and Paul listened in silence. Then Paul smirked.

"What if he just… happened to die?" Paul said casually.

Billy's eyes narrowed.

A slow, dangerous smile crept onto his face.

"We kill him after school," Billy said. "No witnesses. No one will know."

James and Paul exchanged glances before nodding.

With Theo gone, Billy would be number one in strength, reputation, and respect.

Theo studied for hours, completely unaware of the danger waiting for him. By the time he packed his books and left the library, it was 7:45 p.m.

As he approached the exit, a familiar voice stopped him.

"Theo! Theo!"

It was Miss Jessica, the school librarian. She was loved by nearly every student, kind, warm, and motherly. She had a curvy, chubby figure and white hair that framed her gentle face.

"You're still here?" she scolded lightly. "It's already late. How many times have I told you not to stay in the library at night?"

"I'm sorry, ma'am," Theo said, lowering his head.

She tapped his forehead gently and sighed. "Just be careful."

"I promise," Theo replied.

She smiled and waved him goodbye as he left the school grounds.

The moment Theo stepped past the school gate, heavy rain began to fall. The moon hung high in the sky, full and unnaturally bright.

Within minutes, his clothes were soaked.

From a distance, Billy, James, and Paul watched him leave.

They had waited all day.

Billy cursed under his breath when he realised he hadn't brought an umbrella either.

To avoid the storm, Theo decided to take a shortcut home on a narrow, poorly lit path.

Halfway through, he sensed something was wrong.

Footsteps.

Behind him.

His heart began to pound.

Theo broke into a run.

In this era, crime was rampant. The military focused most of its resources on fighting beasts, leaving ordinary citizens vulnerable.

Theo's speed was no match for the ability users.

Paul slammed his foot into the ground, raising a massive earth wall ahead of Theo.

Theo barely dodged it, but crashed into a nearby light pole and fell hard to the ground.

Before he could rise, James manipulated the metal from the pole, twisting it around Theo's body and pinning him against the wall.

Theo froze.

Then he saw their faces.

Fear gripped him but he forced himself to stand tall.

Billy stepped forward, rain dripping from his hair.

"Theo… Theo… Theo," Billy sneered. "I've always hated you. You're weak. You have no ability. Yet you're always on top."

Billy raised his fist.

"Tonight, I will kill you and become the strongest and best student in this school."

The beating was merciless.

Billy's punches, enhanced by his wind ability, slammed into Theo's body again and again. By the time they stopped, Theo was barely conscious, his body broken and bloodied.

Satisfied, they left him in the rain certain he would die.

Alone and barely breathing, Theo weakly reached into his shirt and pulled out a necklace.

A wolf-shaped pendant dangled from the chain.

It was the last thing his parents had left him before they went to fight in the war against the Vikons, a war they never returned from.

"Mom… Dad…" Theo whispered. "Looks like I'll be joining you soon."

His hand fell limp.

The moon shone bright on the pendant.

Suddenly, the pendant began to glow.

The wolf's eyes burned bright red.

Theo's body lifted into the air as a cold, mechanical voice echoed inside his mind.

"Requirements met."

"Bloodline recognised."

"Werewolf System unlocked."

"Wolf Cub System activated."

"Rank: Wolf Cub."

"Level: 1."

"Abilities: None."

Darkness swallowed him.

The red light faded.
