Chapter 18 - Chapter 18“Sunshine Learns to Bite”

Morning arrived with chaos.

Not the violent chaos of gunfights or rival mafias.

Domestic chaos.

The penthouse gym echoed with loud voices, thuds, and dramatic complaining.

"Absolutely not."

Jin stood with his arms crossed like an angry general.

"You are not teaching him that."

Across the room, Jungkook stretched his shoulders with a smirk.

"It's basic self-defense."

Jin pointed accusingly.

"You punched through a wall last week."

"That wall attacked me first."

Taehyung snorted.

Jimin leaned against the mirror, amused.

"Hyung… it was drywall."

Meanwhile, in the center of the gym—

Hoseok stood nervously on the training mat.

Black sweatpants.

Loose white shirt.

Hair tied back messily.

He looked far more like a dancer than someone about to learn how to fight.

Which… technically he was.

Yoongi sat on a bench watching quietly.

Namjoon stood beside Hoseok, arms folded, calm but attentive.

"Are you sure about this?" Namjoon asked gently.

Hoseok nodded firmly.

"I want to learn."

Jungkook's smirk softened slightly.

"That's my sunshine."

Hoseok crossed his arms.

"I'm serious."

Taehyung grinned.

"He is serious."

Hoseok looked at Jungkook.

"I don't want to be helpless anymore."

The room went quiet.

Everyone remembered the kidnapping.

The fear.

The tears.

Jungkook's playful expression disappeared.

"Okay," he said quietly.

"We'll teach you."

Lesson One: Balance

"Step here."

Hoseok stepped onto the mat.

Jungkook stood in front of him.

"First rule," Jungkook said.

"Fighting isn't about strength."

Hoseok blinked.

"It's not?"

Yoongi spoke from the bench.

"It's about control."

Namjoon nodded.

"And balance."

Jungkook demonstrated slowly.

"Feet shoulder width."

Hoseok copied him.

Jimin walked closer, adjusting his posture.

"Relax your shoulders."

Taehyung crouched nearby like an excited spectator.

"This is adorable."

Jin glared.

"Don't distract him."

Jungkook gently pushed Hoseok's shoulder.

Hoseok stumbled.

"See?" Jungkook said.

"You're leaning too far forward."

Hoseok tried again.

Feet steady.

Posture stronger.

Jungkook pushed again.

This time Hoseok barely moved.

Taehyung clapped.

"Ooooh."

Jimin smiled proudly.

"Our dancer has balance."

Hoseok grinned.

"Easy."

Jungkook smirked.

"Don't get cocky."

He swept Hoseok's leg.

Hoseok fell instantly.

"HEY!"

Everyone burst out laughing.

Lesson Two: Use Your Strength

Twenty minutes later—

Hoseok sat on the mat panting.

"You're evil."

Jungkook crouched beside him.

"You're dramatic."

Jin handed Hoseok water.

"Break time."

Hoseok drank gratefully.

Namjoon ruffled his hair.

"You're doing well."

Hoseok looked determined.

"I want to try again."

Yoongi stood up slowly.

"My turn."

Everyone paused.

Jungkook blinked.

"You're teaching now?"

Yoongi shrugged.

"He needs to learn efficiency."

Hoseok stood again.

"…Okay."

Yoongi walked in front of him calmly.

"If someone grabs you."

He suddenly grabbed Hoseok's wrist.

Hoseok gasped.

"What do you do?"

Hoseok froze.

"…Cry?"

Everyone groaned.

Yoongi sighed.

"No."

He demonstrated slowly.

"Twist here."

He guided Hoseok's wrist movement.

"Step here."

Hoseok copied the motion.

Suddenly—

Yoongi lost grip.

Hoseok blinked.

"…Wait."

Jungkook grinned proudly.

"There you go."

Taehyung whistled.

"Our sunshine just escaped Yoongi."

Jimin clapped dramatically.

"This is history."

Yoongi rolled his eyes.

"Don't get excited."

But Hoseok looked proud.

Really proud.

Chaos Breaks Out

Just as they prepared for the next lesson—

THUD.

Everyone turned.

Jungkook had stumbled backward.

Namjoon frowned.

"You okay?"

Jungkook rubbed his temple.

"Yeah."

But his balance looked off.

Taehyung squinted.

"…You look pale."

Jungkook waved it off.

"I'm fine."

Then suddenly—

He sat down heavily on the mat.

Jimin immediately rushed over.

"Kook?"

Jungkook blinked slowly.

"…Head hurts."

Jin was already kneeling beside him.

"You idiot."

Yoongi crouched nearby.

"You're burning up."

Namjoon placed a hand on Jungkook's forehead.

"Fever."

Jungkook groaned.

"I told you I was fine."

"No you didn't," Taehyung said.

"You literally almost collapsed."

Hoseok rushed forward.

"Kookie!"

Jungkook looked up weakly.

"Hey sunshine."

Hoseok touched his arm gently.

"You're sick."

Jin stood immediately.

"Bed. Now."

Jungkook protested weakly.

"I'm not a child."

Taehyung grabbed one arm.

Jimin grabbed the other.

"Too bad."

Yoongi opened the gym door.

Namjoon shook his head.

"Our strongest fighter defeated by a virus."

Fussing Over Jungkook

The bedroom quickly turned into a hospital.

Jungkook sat against the pillows looking miserable.

Jin returned with medicine.

"Take this."

Jungkook frowned.

"No."

Jin glared.

"I will force it."

Jungkook swallowed the pills immediately.

Yoongi placed a cold towel on his forehead.

"Don't be dramatic."

Jimin tucked the blanket around him.

"Rest."

Taehyung dimmed the lights.

Namjoon adjusted the curtains.

Meanwhile—

Hoseok sat beside the bed quietly.

Watching.

Concern clear on his face.

Jungkook noticed.

"You look sad."

Hoseok shook his head.

"Just worried."

Jungkook smiled weakly.

"I'm not dying."

Hoseok poked his arm.

"You're dramatic."

Jungkook gasped.

"Betrayal."

Everyone laughed.

The tension softened.

Sunshine Practices Alone

Later that evening—

Jungkook slept peacefully.

The others gathered quietly in the gym again.

Namjoon looked at Hoseok.

"Do you want to stop training today?"

Hoseok shook his head.

"No."

Taehyung smiled softly.

"Determined."

Yoongi tossed a training glove toward him.

"Show us what you learned."

Hoseok stepped onto the mat.

Feet steady.

Posture balanced.

He repeated the escape move Yoongi taught him.

Smooth.

Controlled.

Jimin clapped.

"Look at him."

Jin nodded approvingly.

"You're improving."

Namjoon crossed his arms proudly.

"Our sunshine is learning to bite."

Hoseok grinned.

"Just a little."

Back to the Bedroom

When Hoseok returned later—

Jungkook was half awake.

"…Training done?"

Hoseok nodded.

"Yes."

Jungkook smiled sleepily.

"Good."

Hoseok climbed onto the bed beside him.

"You scared us."

Jungkook chuckled weakly.

"Sorry."

Hoseok poked his shoulder.

"Next time tell us when you're sick."

Jungkook pulled him into a loose hug.

"Deal."

Namjoon watched from the doorway quietly.

Six dangerous mafia leaders.

One dancer learning to fight.

And somehow…

Their biggest weakness wasn't enemies.

It was caring too much about each other.

Namjoon smiled softly.

Because honestly?

He wouldn't change it for anything.
