Chapter 20 - Chapter 20“The Last Mission

"

The city slept under a heavy blanket of fog, the streets quiet but for distant sirens echoing through the alleyways. Inside a sleek black van, six figures leaned forward, eyes sharp, movements precise.

Jungkook drove, his hands steady on the wheel, but tension threaded through his normally unshakable frame. Namjoon sat beside him, scanning the city map on a tablet, Yoongi silently cleaning and readying his firearms. Taehyung and Jimin were in the back, whispering tactics, and Hoseok… Hoseok sat wrapped in a black jacket, knees tucked to his chest, staring at his hands.

This was it—their last mission.

"…Are we really doing this?" Hoseok's voice was soft, almost fragile.

Namjoon glanced at him, eyes hard but gentle. "Yes, baby. This is the last one. After this… we can finally be done with the chaos."

Hoseok nodded, but his stomach twisted nervously. He had trained, yes—but the world outside these walls was different. Dangerous. And despite all the lessons, all the sparring, all the protection from the six, he couldn't stop the fear from crawling through him.

Jungkook reached back, placing a reassuring hand on Hoseok's shoulder. "You're with us. Always. Nothing's happening to you."

Hoseok tried to nod, but his voice shook. "…Promise?"

"Promise," Namjoon confirmed firmly.

Entering the Enemy's Lair

The warehouse stood on the outskirts of the industrial district, dimly lit and surrounded by silence. Inside, their target waited—a rival gang leader who had been terrorizing the city for months, someone the six had tracked meticulously.

Jin adjusted his suit jacket, glancing around the empty hall. "This feels… wrong. Too quiet."

Yoongi didn't answer, already moving forward, gun at the ready. Taehyung and Jimin flanked him, while Namjoon signaled Jungkook to follow the plan. Hoseok clutched Namjoon's arm instinctively, heart hammering.

Suddenly, a burst of movement. Shadows appeared along the catwalks above. Guns fired. The floor shook as bodies collided.

Hoseok froze at first, but Namjoon pressed him against his chest. "Stay with me," he whispered.

Hoseok buried his face into Namjoon's chest, whispering prayers that everything would be okay.

Jungkook moved like lightning, disarming one attacker, kicking another back toward the far wall. Jimin rolled and struck a thug mid-air with precise force, while Taehyung's eyes flashed as he grabbed one assailant, flipping him over the railing.

Everything moved like a deadly dance.

Then a deafening crash—Jin had been hit.

Namjoon's eyes narrowed. "Jin!"

Yoongi fired twice, quickly taking down the threat near him, then dashed to Jin's side. Jin groaned, clutching his arm. Blood seeped through his shirt.

"…Hyung!" Hoseok cried, scrambling forward. Namjoon immediately held him back. "No! You stay!"

Hoseok shook violently. "…Joony hurt?"

Jungkook's fist slammed into the nearest enemy. "He's alive! Don't move!"

Taehyung growled, taking a knife from his belt and throwing it cleanly. "…They're going down!"

But before they could gain full control, another gunshot rang out—this time hitting Suga. Yoongi fell backward, gripping his shoulder, pain etched across his face.

"Hyung!" Hoseok cried again, panic rising in his chest. Namjoon pressed him tighter against his body, eyes sharp, jaw tense.

"I've got him," Namjoon said firmly. "…Hoseok, breathe. Breathe with me."

Hoseok did, small whimpers escaping as the reality of blood and violence sank in. For a moment, the small dancer froze in terror—but then he looked up. Namjoon's eyes, Jungkook's stance, Jimin and Taehyung's focused faces—all of them were unflinching. He wasn't helpless. Not completely.

Turning the Tide

Hoseok's fingers tightened around Namjoon's jacket. "…I can help."

Namjoon hesitated. "…You sure?"

"…Yes," Hoseok whispered.

Jungkook nodded sharply. "If he's with us, we cover him. Teach him to fight, remember?"

Taehyung added, "He's trained. A little, but he can do it."

Jimin crouched beside Hoseok. "Start with simple moves. Watch me."

With shaking hands, Hoseok imitated Jimin's stances. Step left, guard up, small punch to the midsection. It wasn't much—but in the chaos of the warehouse, it made a difference. One thug slipped near them, and Hoseok jabbed just right, causing the man to stumble.

Namjoon's eyes softened briefly. "Good. Focus."

Hoseok's confidence grew, small but steady. He ducked, blocked, and even managed a kick that sent one assailant sprawling. Jungkook clapped quickly. "…That's my sunshine."

Meanwhile, Taehyung and Jimin moved with fluid precision, covering both Hoseok and the injured Jin and Yoongi. Yoongi gritted his teeth but continued fighting, blood dripping down his side. Jin's arm hung uselessly, but he still managed to strike at the right angles, using his remaining strength.

The fight seemed endless, shadows and gunfire blending into a storm. Hoseok's heart raced, but he refused to let fear control him. Every time he faltered, one of the six was there—guiding, protecting, encouraging.

Emotions on Edge

Finally, the last enemy fell. Silence descended. The warehouse smelled of sweat, blood, and gunpowder.

Hoseok collapsed against Namjoon, trembling, tears streaking his cheeks. "…I was scared…"

Namjoon held him tightly. "…I know, baby. You did amazing."

Jungkook knelt beside Hoseok, carefully brushing hair from his forehead. "You weren't just scared—you were brave."

Hoseok sniffled, looking around. Jin sat heavily on a crate, gripping his bleeding arm. Yoongi leaned against a support beam, his face pale but calm.

"…Hyungs…" Hoseok whispered.

"We're okay," Namjoon reassured him. "All of us."

Taehyung crouched beside Hoseok, placing a hand gently on his shoulder. "…You were incredible. Our sunshine…"

Hoseok's lips trembled. "…Love you all."

Six men simultaneously smiled despite exhaustion, pain, and the chaos surrounding them. Hoseok had become the emotional center, the small yet unshakable force binding them together.

Returning Home

By the time they returned to the penthouse, night had fallen. Hoseok insisted on helping clean the minor wounds, bringing small cloths, pressing bandages, and murmuring encouragement to Jin and Yoongi.

Jungkook slumped on the couch, exhausted, and Hoseok immediately flopped beside him. "…You okay?" he asked softly.

Jungkook nodded weakly. "…Better now."

Jimin handed Hoseok a small bottle of water. "…Good job, baby."

Namjoon wrapped Hoseok in a blanket, kissing the top of his head. "…You've grown so much today."

Hoseok smiled sleepily, leaning into Namjoon's chest. "…Did everyone get better?"

"Everyone's fine," Yoongi assured him, smirking. "…Mostly."

Taehyung nudged Hoseok gently. "Our little sunshine helped save the day."

Hoseok's eyes widened. "…I did?"

Jungkook laughed weakly. "…Yes, you did. You're our heart, Hobi. Always."

Romantic Ending

Later that night, the six men gathered around Hoseok in the living room. Jin had retrieved a small bouquet of flowers, Namjoon held a cup of warm milk, Jungkook had a blanket ready, and the others leaned close, protective, tender, and full of love.

"Today was dangerous," Namjoon said softly. "But we made it home… together."

Hoseok hugged him tightly. "…Forever?"

"Forever," Namjoon confirmed.

Jungkook kissed the top of his hair. "Always."

Jimin pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead. "…Always, sunshine."

Taehyung ruffled Hoseok's hair. "…Never alone."

Yoongi smirked, leaning against the couch. "You're stuck with us."

Jin smiled softly. "…And we wouldn't have it any other way."

Hoseok's chest swelled. "…Love you all."

Six voices answered in unison:

"Love you too."

For the first time in months, the empire's chaos felt distant. Danger, rivalries, and threats still existed—but tonight, there was only warmth, laughter, and the perfect little heart at the center of their world.

And in the glow of the penthouse, with the city lights twinkling below, Hoseok's tiny hand clasped Namjoon's, Jungkook's, Jimin's, Taehyung's, Yoongi's, and Jin's, all six of them knew the truth: no matter what battles came, no matter what danger lurked, they were a family.

A family bound not by fear or power—but by love.

And that love, small yet fierce, soft yet unbreakable, would guide them for the rest of their lives.
