Lila's eyes narrowed. "I do not know what you want me to say."
Torin almost scoffed. He could see she was taking him for a ride. "Tell me the truth."
"I have told you the truth."
"No, you haven't." Torin's frustration finally broke through. "You did not leave me because you suddenly stopped caring about me. You left because Fedrick Lion came along."
Lila's face flushed. "Lower your voice."
"Why? Are you embarrassed?" He scoffed.
"Torin."
"You found someone richer, someone with a family powerful enough to give you the life you wanted, and suddenly everything we had together became worthless."
"That is enough," Lila warned.
"No." Torin shook his head. "You can pretend it never happened, but I remember everything."
The attention around them increased. A few people had stopped walking entirely.
Lila became painfully aware that some of her friends were watching her with uncomfortable expressions.
Torin could care less about embarrassing. He just continued.
